Adjournment Cit,(/Clerk City of South San Francisco Inter-Office Memorandum DATE: January 25, 2005 TIME: 6:00 P.M. TO: FROM: SUBJECT: Honorable Mayor and City Council Members City Clerk ~~ CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING - INTERVIEWS FOR BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS: Historic Preservation Commission · Housing Authority · Parking Place Commission · Parks & Recreation Commission · Personnel Board Planning Commission Enclosed you will find the Council packet for the January 25, 2005 Special City Council Meeting, to be held in the City Hall Conference Room, beginning at 6:00 p.m. There are 22 applicants to be interviewed. Attached is the time schedule and interviews are at eight-minute intervals, approximately. This packet also includes a matrix, applications, and interview questions. ' Background: At the December 15, 2004 special meeting there were 19 candidates interviewed, including the incumbents. Due to a concern received from a citizen that he was unaware of the December 10~h deadline to submit board and commission applications, Council agreed to extend the filing period to January (date later determined to be January 12, 2005). The City Clerk was directed to place a more extensive public notice of the current term expirations and vacancies on the City's website. Display ads were also placed in the Independent and Examiner (at a cost of $229) and a press release was printed in the San Mateo County Times (copies attached), as well as a notice on Cable Channel 26. From comments and inquiries made by the public, it appears that the most effective news media was Cable Channel 26. DISCUS SION AND APPOiNTMENTS: If there is a consensus from Council to move forward with the appointment process this evening, ballots will be provided. This item has also been placed on the January 26th regular meeting agenda if time does not allow for appointments to be made this evening. A motion to confirm the appointments is required.
