MUNICIPAL ELECTION OF NOVEMBER 8, 2005
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached resolution declaring the election
results of the General Municipal Election of November 8, 2005.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
In accordance with Govermnent Code Section 10264, the following certification of election
results for the November 8, 2005 General Municipal Election is submitted:

CONCLUSION:
The Certificate of the Chief Elections Officer and the Final Official Canvass of votes for the 34
precincts in South San Francisco are attached. Certificates of Election have been prepared for Mark
N. Addiego, Pedro Gonzalez and Karyl Matsumoto as members of the City Council, Sylvia Payne as
City Clerk, and Richard A. Battaglia as City Treasurer.

TI-IE CrTY OF SOlTfI-I SAN FRANCISCC) ON NOVEMBER 8,2005
WHEREAS, a General Municipal Election was held in and throughout the City of South San
Francisco on the 8th day of November 2005, pursuant to Resolution No. 61-2005, for the election of
three Inembers of the City Council, City Clerk and City Treasurer; and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk presented to the City Council, for its inspection, all returns of the
vote cast, pursuant to Election Code 10264.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco that it finds:
1. That there were 26,754 registered voters in the City of South San Francisco and that
13,752 votes were cast in the City of South San Francisco; and
2. That the names of persons voted for as submitted at said General Municipal Election
are as follows:
(a) As regularly-nominated candidates:

said candidates as shown by the official count at each of the several precincts
established throughout said City by said City Council for the purpose of

(b) That the total votes cast at said General Municipal Election in favor of said
candidates for the Offices of City Council Member, City Treasurer and City
Clerk as shown by the official count, and included in the totals set forth in
Exhibit "A", are as follows:

General Municipal Election as Inembers of the City Council of South San Francisco;
Richard A. Battaglia was duly elected City Treasurer; and Sylvia Payne was duly
elected City Clerk.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that:
1. The Mayor shall, and is hereby ordered to, issue a Certificate of Election to Sylvia
Payne as City Clerk.
2. The City Clerk of said City shall, and is hereby ordered to, issue Certificates of
Election to Mark N. Addiego, Pedro Gonzalez and Karyl Matsumoto as members of
the City Council; and Richard A. Battaglia as City Treasurer.

I, WARREN SLOCUM, Chief Elections Officer of the County of San
Mateo, State of California hereby certify;
THAT an election was held within the boundaries of the CITY OF SOUTH
SAN FRANCISCO on Tuesday, November 8, 2005 for the purpose of electing
three (3) members to the City Council for four (4) year terms and one (1) City
Clerk for a four (4) year term and one (1) City Treasurer for a four (4) year term;
and I caused to have processed and recorded the votes from the canvass of all
ballots cast at said election within the boundaries of the CITY OF SOUTH SAN
FRANCISCO.
I HEREBY FURTHER CERTIFY that the record of votes cast at said
election are set forth in Exhibit "A" attached hereto and incorporated herein by
reference as though fully set forth at length.
