CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A CULTURAL
AND ARTS COMMITTEE.
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South
San Francisco that a Cultural and Arts Committee as proposed
by Councilman Frank Mammini shall be established as set
forth in Exhibit A attached hereto.

EXHIBIT A
CULTURAL AND ARTS COMMITTEE
Interim Committee.
An interim co~,ittee shall be and is hereby established
consisting of five (5) members, which members shall
be appointed by the Mayor subject to confirmation by the
members of the City Council. The members of the interim
committee so appointed shall serve for a period of
two (2) years . Upon appointment, the
members of the interim committee shall meet and select
the officers thereof, to wit: A chairman, vice chairman
and secretary; establish a meeting time, place and dates
of not less than one meeting per month; develop and
propose to the City Council the format of a Cultural and
Arts Commission on or before the 1st day of July
19 70, taking into consideration the provisions set forth
in the following proposal made to the City Council by
Councilman Frank Mammini:
"Intent:
To establish a commission for the purpose of broadening
the cultural scope of our city.
Commission Requirements:
"(1)

Commission shall consist of nine members.
Seven shall serve four-year terms and a
maximum of two terms. The remaining two
members shall be advisory and serve terms of
two years only.
Commissioners shall be appointed on the basis
of knowledge in the following categories:
"(a) Art
(b) Music

"The success of this commission will be
dependent upon the basic knowledge and interest
of its members and, therefore, the necessity for
a comprehensive review of all applicants.~'
Interim Committee to Serve as Cultural and Arts
Committee.
The interim committee shall serve as the Cultural
and Arts Committee of the City of South San Francisco
from the date of appointment and until the permanent
commission is formed and appointed by the City Council.
