CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO AUTHORIZING FILING OF APPLI-
CATION FOR A FEDERAL GRANT UNDER THE~TERMS OF THE
FEDERAL WATER POLLUTION CONTROL ACT AS AMENDED
(33 U.S.C. 466 ET. SEQ.) 1969-70 FISCAL YEAR.
WHEREAS, City of South San Francisco and City of San
Bruno, acting jointly (herein called the "Applicant"), after
thorough consideration of the various aspects of the problem
and study of available data have hereby determined that the
construction of certain public works, generally described as
joint sewerage works to serve both cities, to include addi-
tions and enlargements to the Shaw Road sewage pumping plant
and new force main, is desirable and in the public interest
and to that end it is necessary that action preliminary to
the construction of said works be taken immediately; and
WHEREAS, under the terms of Public Law 89-?53, the
Federal Water Pollution Control Act (33 U.S.C. 466 et. seq.)
as amended, and related acts, the United States of America
has authorized annual appropriations for grants to munici-
palities to aid in financing the cost of constructing or
remodeling of sewage treatment works; and
WHEREAS, the applicant has examined and duly considered
such act and the applicant considers it to be in the public
interest and to its benefit to file an application under said
act and to authorize other action in connection therewith;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of South San Francisco, the governing body of said applicant,
as follows:
1. That the construction of said public works is essential to
and is to the best interests of the applicant, and to
the end that such public works may be provided as promptly
as practicable it is desirable that action preliminary
to the construction thereof be undertaken immediately;

2. That Louis H. Goss, Director of Public Works, City of
South San Francisco, and Leo Van Dusen, Director of
Public Works, City of San Bruno, be hereby authorized
to file in behalf of the applican~t an application (in
form required by the United States and in conformity with
said act or acts) for a Federal grant to aid in defraying
the cost of Shaw Road pumping station and new force main.
3. The said Louis H. Goss and Leo Van Dusen, acting jointly,
are hereby authorized to furnish such information and take
such action as may be necessary to enable the applicant to
qualify for the grant.
4. That the officers designated in the preceding paragraph
are hereby designated as the authorized representatives
of the applicant for the purpose of furnishing to the
United States such information, data, and documents per-
taining to the application for such grant as may be required;
and otherwise to act as the authorized representatives of
the applicant in connection with this application.
5. That certified copies of this resolution be included as
part of the application.
