A RESOLUTION APPROVING PLANS
AND SPECIFICATIONS, AUTHORIZING
THE WORK AND CALLING BIDS FOR
Specifications for Dredging Colma
Creek and Tribataries - 1969
RESOLVED by the City Co~ancil of the City of South San
Francisco, California, that
WHEREAS, plans and specifications providing for cer-
tain improvement work have been submitted, which plans and
specifications are entitled:
Specifications for Dredging Colma
Creek and Tributaries - 1969
and,
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to approve said plans
and specifications, authorime the work and call for sealed
proposals;
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ~REBY ORDERED that:
1. The plans and specifications hereinbefore named and
identified are hereby approved and the work therein provided
is hereby authorized, and said plans and specifications are
referred to and by this reference made a part hereof the
same as if recited herein verbatim°
2 The City Clerk of said City is hereby directed to
publis~ by two (2) consecutive insertions in the "Enter-
prise-Journal," a newspaper published and circulated in said
City, a notice inviting sealed proposals or bids for said
work in accordance with the plans and specifications herein-
before named and identified and on file in the Office of the
City Clerk, the first of which publication shall be at least
ten (10) days prior to the time fixed for opening bids. A
copy of said notice entitled "Notice to Bidders" is attached
hereto and referred to and by this reference made a part
hereof as if set forth verbatim herein.
Ail proposals or bids shall be accompanied by a cashier's
or certified check, payable to the order of the City of South
San Francisco, in an amount equal to not less than ten per
cent (10%) of the bid figure, or by a bond in said amount

drawn in favor of said City and executed by a corporate
surety. Said check shall be forfeited by bidder, or said
bond shall become payable to said City in case the lowest
responsible bidder (or bidders) depositing the same
does not, within the time s~_t forth in said plans and
specifications, enter into a contract with said City, the
faithful performance of which shall be guaranteed by an
undertaking in the amount of one hundred per cent (100%)
of the sum bid, said undertmking being that of a corporate
surety satisfactory to said City Council, and which con-
tract shall be accompanied Dy a labor and materials bond
of a corporate surety~ also in a sum equal to one hundred
per cent (100%) of the amount of said bid, as required by
the provisions of Title l, Division 5~ Chapter 3, of the
Government Code of the State of California. In case of a
forfeiture, as provided for in the preceding sentence, the
defaulting bidder shall be liable to said City for any
additional expense to whic~ it may reasonably be put in
connection with obtaining ~ull and complete performance of
the particular work of improvement with which this Notice
to Bidders is concerned.
3. Bids will be received by the City of South San
Francisco, California, at the Office of the City Manager
of said City, City Hall, Gzand Avenue, South San Francisco,
California,
at or before the hour of
2'00P.M.
on Tuesday
the 23rd day of September
1969
said time not being less tl'an ten (10) days from the first
publication of notice. The bids will be publicly opened,
examined and declared at said time and place and award will
thereafter be made by the City Council of said City to the
lowest responsible bidder or bidders, subject, however, to
the right of said City Council to reject any and all bids,
which right is hereby reserved.
4. Funds shall be encumbered as set forth on
Exhibit "A;' attached hereto.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was
regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of
the City of South San Francisco at a regular
meeting held on the 2nd day of September , 19 .69 ,

NOTICE CALLING FOR BII~S FOR THE RENTAL OF
DR~.GLiNE EQUIP~.~T FOR DREDGING SAlfD FROM
COLMA CREEK AND TRIBUTARIES - 1969, IN THE
.~_ CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANC ISCO
NOTICE IS HERE~ff GIVEN that seal sd bids for the rental of
dragline equipment, fully operated an~ maintained, for dredging
sand from Colma Creek between 1,000 f=~et east of Orange Avenue
'and approximately 2,000 feet east of Airport Boulevard and from
various tributary ditches in the City of South San Francisco,
will be received in the office of the City Manager of South
San Francisco, City Hall, Grand Avenu~ and Maple Avenue, South
San Francisco, California, at or before the hour of 2:00 p.m.,
on Tuesday, September 23, 1969, said time being not less than
ten (10) days from the first publication of this notice. All
bids will be publicly opened, exmnined and declared at said time
and place. Award of contract will th=~reafter be made by the
City Council of said city to the lowest responsible bidder or
bidders, subject, however, to the right of said City Council to
reject any and all bids, which right is hereby reserved.
The rental of dragline equipment hereinbefore referred to
consists of one or more of the following dragline equipment, fully
operated and maintained.

Bidder to bid on o'ne or more of the above sizes of dragline
equipment.' Bidder to state name, age, capacity and model number
of equipment and specify, length of boom and size of bucket. It is
estimated that there will be approximately twenty (20) days of
work for each machine. The total amount of the bid and the amount
of performance bond required vlill be estimated by multiplying the
hourly rental rate by 160 hours for each machine, plus the move-in
and move-out charge, if applicable.
The City reserves the right to award the contract to the
bidder furnishing the best bid based on 'the type and size of
machine which will result in the lowest total cost to the City,
The City may award separate contracts for Item I - la and for.
Item 2 based on the lowest bid received for each item.
All dredging operations are to be done under the supervision
of the Director of Public ;'forks and at the locations and in the
manner specified in the specifications entitled '~Specifications
for Dredging Colma Creek and Tributaries - 1969". Reference is
hereby made to said specifications for further particulars, copies
of which may be procured from the City Clerk, upon the making of
a deposit of FIVE DOLLARS ($5.00) per set, of %vhich sum FIVE DOLLARS
($5.00) will be refunded upon the return of said specifications in
good condition within SEVENTY-TWO (72) hours after the bid date.
All proposals or bids shall b~ accompanied by a cashier's or
certified check payable to the order of the City of South San
Francisco, in an amount equal to not less than ten percent (10%) of
the bid figure, or by a bond in said amount drawn in favor of said
City and executed by a corporate surety. Said check shall be for-
feited by bidder, or said bond shall become payable to said City in
case the lowest responsible bidder (or bidders) depositing the same
does not, within the time set forth in said specifications, enter
into a contract vlith said City, th~ faithful performance of which
shall be guaranteed by an undertaking in the amount of one hundred
percent (100%) of the sum bid, said undertaking being that of a
corporate surety satisfactory to said City Council, and which contract
shall be accompanied by a labor and materials bond of a corporate

Division 5, Chapter 3, of the Government Code of the State of

heretofore established the prevailing wage scale for per diem rates
to be paid to all craftsmen and labor, ers in connection with the work
to be done pursuant to said specifications, which is as follows:

For all wage scales and classifications not listed above or cor-
rectly shown, the prevailing Union Scale established for San Mateo
County shall apply.
The rates for legal holidays and overtime work, and the allow-
ances for vacatious, pensions, and health and welfare, shall be
in accordance with the local trade agreements in effect at the
time of bidding.
