CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION PETITIONZNG THE COMMITTEE ON
ARTICLE XXVI OF THE CONSTITUTION REVISION
COMMISSION NOT TO MAKE CHANGES IN THE
RESTRICTIONS CONTAINED IN SAID ARTICLE XXVI.
WHEREAS, there has been duly established a Constitution
Revision Commission to consicer needed changes in the California
Constitution; and
WHEREAS, the Committee on Article XXVI of that Commission
is holding hearings throughout the State to consider needed
changes in said Article XXVI which presently limits the use of
automobile user taxes and fees to expenditures for road.pur-
poses; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has considered the matter, and
has knowledge that all of the highway systems presently financed
from said funds, namely Federal, State, County, and Cities,
are desperately in need of even more funds than are presently
available, if the various highway systems are to be maintained
in a safe and usable condition, and if needed improvements are
to be made in the various systems in a timely fashion;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED as follows:
That this City Council strongly requests and petitions the
Committee on Article XXVI of the State Constitution Revision
Commission not to recommend changes in said Article XXVI that
would remove the present rescrictions on expenditure of funds
contained therein.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was
regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the
City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting
held on the 15th
