AT 601 GATEWAY BOULEVARD
WHEREAS, Section D2a(6) of the Gateway Specific Plan and Section 20.57.450 of
the South San Francisco Municipal Code allow one sign to be erected on a site

and
WHEREAS, signs erected pursuant to the foregoing sections are limited to a

Report and attachments thereto, and the comments received during said Public Hearing;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Redevelopment Agency of the City of South
San Francisco that:
1. The Redevelopment Agency finds that:
(a) It is necessary to the success of the Gateway Redevelopment Project
to provide adequate on-site signing for advertising purposes; and
(b) Considering the size and location of the buiding at 601 Gateway
Boulevard, two signs each having a total area of 320 square feet are reasonable
and necessary to provide adequate on-site advertising of the availablity of
space within said building; and
(c) Based upon the foregoing, the variance sought herein will be in
harmony with the general purpose of the Gateway Specific Plan; and
(d) Unnecessary hardships and results inconsistent with the general pur-
pose of the Gateway Specific Plan may result from the strict application of
Section D2a(6) of the Gateway Specific Plan and of Section 20.57.450 of the
South San Francisco Municipal Code limiting the size and number of outside
signs offering the site for sale or lease.
2. Based upon the foregoing findings, the variance requested by Homart to
allow installation of two signs, each having a total area of 320 square feet, the
design of which is attached hereto as Exhibit "A," is hereby approved subject
to the following conditions:
(a) The variance granted herein is limited to two (2) signs which are
of the size, color and design as shown on Exhibit "A" attached hereto; and
(b) The signs shall be fastened to the building in accordance with
requirements of the City's Building Division; and
(c) Homart must obtain a building permit from the City's Building Division
before the signs may be installed; and
(d) Approval of the variance granted herein shall be for a twelve (12)
month period from the date of installation. The Redevelopment Agency at the
request of Homart, will review the variance permit granted herein prior to
the expiration of same and may grant a one (1) year extension of said variance
permit after completing the hearing required by Municipal Code Sections
20.57.630 and 20.57.640. Any extension granted may be conditioned upon such
additional requirements, including changes in size, location or design, as
the Agency may deem necessary and proper.
