A RESOLUTION CHANGING THE NAMES OF THE PRIVATE
STREETS SHOWN ON THE TERRABAY WOODS EAST AND
WOODS WEST SUBDIVISION MAPS FROM BAY STREET TO
BAYVIEW DRIVE AND FROM WOODS STREET TO WOODS CIRCLE
WHEREAS, staff recommends changing the names of the private streets shown on the
Terrabay Woods East and Woods West Subdivision Maps from Bay Street to Bayview Drive and
from Woods Street to Woods Circle to distinguish the new streets from existing streets.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco that the City Council hereby authorizes changing the names of the private streets shown
on the Terrabay Woods East and Woods West Subdivision Vol. 130 of maps, Pages 28 through 39,
from Bay Street to Bayview Drive and from Woods Street to Woods Circle.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the
City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 11th day of
December 2002 by the following vote:

Councilmembers Joseph A. Fernekes and Raymond L. Green
Mayor Pro Tem Karyl Matsumoto and Mayor Pedro Gonzalez

Mandalay Heights Map Correction
BACKGROUND
The City approved a final map for Mandalay Point Terrabay with a street identified as
Bay Street. Building, Fire, Police, Engineering and Planning reviewed thc map. After
recordation of the map it was found that the City already has a Bay Street. (The
subdivision map identifies the same street as.Bay View). In order to correct the problem
the recorded final map needs to identifi,d Bay Street as "Bay View"' Street'.
STATE SUBDMSION LAW
CalLfomh State Subdivision Map Act Article 7 Section 66469 - Correction and
Amendments ofMap~ idondfies amendments tha~ arc permissible with it certifica:e of
corr,ction or an amending map. In particular subsection (g) identilies tha::
"To correct any other type of map error or omission as approved by the
county surveyor or city exLgineer that docs not at~ect any proioerty fight,
including, but are not limited, to, lot numbers, acreage, street names, and
identification of adjacent recorded maps."
Section 66470 outlines the preparation and rccluiremcn:s for mending a map
and/or for a certificate of correct/on. The Section states that an amend~ing map
shall conform to ~e requirements of Sc~tion 66434 if it is a final map. The
amending map or certificate of correction shall set forth in detail the corr~don.
the co~ections made ~nd show the namea of the f,'e owners of thc real property
affected by the correction. Upon recordation cf thc certificate of correction the
county recorder, within 60 days of recording, transmit a certifiexl copy to t. he
county surveyor or county engineer who shall maintain an index of recorded
certificates.

Section 66434 requirements are as follows are essentially the requirem,nts for
filiz~g a final map. Therefore, in ~e case of Mandalay Heights, it seems that .~c
exi~ng reco~rdcd fly_a! map should be revised to climaSe ~e name of Bay Street
to Bay Vei~ and that thc county recorder sI~ll (upon request) provide a copy of
th~ reeoixte~ certific~e to the city engineer. (Section 66470).
LOCAL ORDINANCE
I see nothing in the City's subdivision ordhmuce that contradicts or amends this
process.
QUESTION
Is the above the process that Western Pacific conforms zo 'to amend the final
map for Manda~y Heights? I see no City Engineer signature required, or Cily
participation.
