A RESOLUTION 0F THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY 0P SOUTH- SAN
FRANCISCO DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO IMPROVE LINDEN AVENUE
FROM THE NORTHERLY LINE 0F RAILROAD, AVENUE, TO THE BAY SHORE
LINE 0F THE SOUTHERN PACIFIC COMYANY, DOLLAR AVENUE, ANB
PORTION 0F TANPORAN AVENUE, AND HUNTINGTON AVENUE EAST, IN
SAID CITY 0F SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO.
WHEREAS, public interest and convenience require that the work and improvement
hereinafter described should be done; and
WHEREAS, in the opinion of the City CounciX of the City of South San Francisco,
it is the intention of said City Council to order the following work and improvement
to be done in said City, to-wit:
Section 1. That Linden Avenue from the northerly line of Railroad Avenue to
the westerly line of the right of way of the Southern Pacific Company's Bay Shore Line,
including all inters6ctions aud termi~ations, or,portions of such intersections and
terminations, within the lines and limits of said Linden Avenue, but excepting, how-
ever, from the work herein provided for, but except as hereinafter provided, the por-
tion of ~aid Linden Avenue, coneisting of the area between the rails of each of the
two railroad tracks crossing said Linden Avenue, the area between said railroad trakcs
and a strip of land two (2) feet in width, measured outwardly and northerly from
the northerly one of said tracks, and measured outwardly and southerly from the south-
erly one of said tracks, (such excepted areas to be improved, however, by the con-
struction of storm sewers as hereinafter mentioned(, be improved as follows, to-wit:
(a) By grading said street for the full length hereinbefore described and for
the full width thereof, and in accordance with the plans, profiles,~detailed drawings
and specifications hereinafter referred to:
(b} Also by constructing on each side of said avenue a combined hydraulic
cement concrete curb and gutter and on the westerly side Of said avenue a hydraulic
cement concrete sidewalk, all for the full length thereof; all of the forms, sizes,
dimentions and in the locations as all are more particularly shown on the plans,
profiles, detailed drawings and specifications hereinafter referred to;
(c) Also by constructing on the roadway of said avenue, $etween the proposed
gutters and for the full length thereof, a pavement consisting of a three (3) inch
asphaltic concrete base pavement laid upon a six (6) inch waterbound rock macadam
sub-base or cushion and a two (2) inch asphaltic concrete wearing surface laid upon
such base pavement, excepting from .said pavement, however, two (2) lengths or areas
of. roadway, each twenty feet (20) in width, one such length extending from the north-
erly line of Railroad Avenue to & point four hundred (400) feet southwesterly there-
from ~ud the other such length extending from the westerly right of way line of
Southern Pacific Company's Bay Shore Branch to a point five hundre~ and forty (540)
feet northerly therefrom measured along said Linden Avenue, and excepting also
portions of the intersection of Railroad Avenue and Linden Avenue, all of such areas
or lengths now being occupied by existing pavement; all such areas or lengths shall
be improved by resurfacing the said existing pavement with an additional asphaltic
concrete wearing surface, of such thickness as to bring such surface up to the grades
as shown on said plans. All the work mentioned in this paragraph shall be to the
sizes, dimensions, thickness and in the locations as all are more particularly shown
on the plans, profiles, detailed drawings and specifications hereinafter referred to;
(d) Also by constructing a steel reinforced hydraulic 'cement concrete bridge,
located across said Linden Avenue at a point eight hundred and twenty-two (822) feet
southwesterly from the southwesterly line of Railroad Avenue, of the form, sizes,
dimensions and in the particularlocation as all are more particularly shown on the
plans, profiles, detailed drawings and specifications hereinafter referred to;
(e) Also by constructing a steel reinforced hydraulic cement concrete bridge
across said Linden Avenue at a point two thousand and seventeen (201~) feet south-
westerly from the southwesterly line of Railroad Avenue of the form, sixes, dimensions
and in the particularly location as all more more particularly shown on the plans,
profiles, detailed drawings and specifications hereira~ter referred to;
(f) Also by constructing a steel reinforced hydraulic cement concrete box
culvert with two stormwater inlets consisting of cast iron frames and gratings
across said-avenue, at a point three thousand and sixty-nine (~069) feet southwest-
~lv ~r~m the southwesterly line of Railroad Avenue: of the form. sizes, dimensions
the westerly line of the right of way of the Southern Pacific Company's Bay Shore Line,
including all intersections aud termi~:ations, or.portions of such intersections and
terminations, within the lines and limits of said Linden Avenue, but excepting, how-
ever, from the work herein provided for, but except as hereinafter provided, the por-
tion of said Linden Avenue, coneisting of the area between the rails of each of the
two railroad tracks crossing said Linden Avenue, the area between said railroad trakcs
and a strip of land two (2) feet in width, measured outwardly and northerly from
the northerly one of said tracks, and measured outwardly amd southerly from the south-
erly one of said tracks, (such excepted areas to be improved, however, by the con-
struction of storm sewers as hereinafter mentioned(, be improved as follows, to-wit:
(a) By grading said street for the full length hereinbefore described and for
the full width thereof, and in accordance with the plans, profiles,~detailed drawings
and specifications hereinafter referred te:
(b) Also by constructing on each side of said avenue a combined hydraulic
cement concrete curb and gutter and on the westerly side Of said avenue a hydraulic
'cement concrete sidewalk, all for the full length thereof; all of the forms, sizes,
dimentions and in the locations as all are more particularly shown on the plans,
profiles, detailed drawings and specifications hereinafter referred to;
(c) Also by constructing on the roadway of said avenue, Setween the proposed
gutters and for the full length thereof, a pavement consisting of a three (3) inch
asphaltic concrete base pavement laid upon a six (6) inch waterbound rock macadam
sub-base or cushion and a two (2) inch asphaltic concrete wearing surface laid upon

of-roadway, each twenty feet (20) in width, one such length extending from the north-
erly line of Railroad Avenue to a point four hundred (400) feet southwesterly there-
from and the other such length extending from the westerly right of way line of
Southern Pacific Company's Bay Shore Branch to a point five hundred and forty (540)
feet nor:herly therefrom measured along said Linden Avenue, and excepting also
portions of the intersection of Railroad Avenue and Linden Avenue, all of such areas
or lengths now being occupied by existing pavement; all such areas or lengths shall
be improved by resurfacing the said existing pavement with an additional asphaltic
concrete wearing surface, of such thickness as to bring such surface up to the grades
as shown on said plans, All the work mentioned inthis paragraph shall be to the
sizes, dimensions, thickness and in the locations as all are more particularly shown
on the plans, profiles, detailed drawings and specifications hereinafter referred to;
(d) Also by constructing a steel reinforced hydraulic 'Cement concrete bridge,
located across said Linden Avenue at a point eight hundred amd twenty-two (82£) feet
southwesterly from the southwesterly line of Railroad Avenue, of the form, sizes,
dimensions and in the particular:location as all are more particularly shown on the
plans, profiles, detailed drawings and specifications hereinafter referred to;
(e) Also by constructing a steel reinforced hydraulic cement concrete bridge
across said Linden Avenue at a point two thousand and seventeen (2017) feet south-
westerly from the southwesterly line of Railroad Avenue of the form, sixes, dimensions
and in the particularly location as all more more particularly shown on the plans,
profiles, detailed drawings and specifications hereirs~ter referred to;
(f) Also by constructing a steel reinforced hydramlic cement concrete box
culvert with two stormwater inlets consisting of cast iron frames and gratings
across said-avenue, at a point three thousand and sixty-nine (3069) feet southwest-
erly from the southwesterly line of Railroad Avenue: of the form, sizes, dimensions
and to the depth and in the location as all are more particularly shown on the plans
profiles, detailed drawings and specifications ~ereinafter ~eferred to;
Ig) Also that twenty-three hundred and thirty-nine (2339} feet of e~g~.t (8)
inch diameter vitrified salt-glazed ironstone pipe sanitary sewer with ten(1~ red
burnt brick manholes, capped with cast iron frames smd covers, be constructed in said
avenue at the various locations and to the depths, sizes, forms and dimensions as
all are more particularly shown and set forth in the plans, ~rofiles, detailed draw-
ings and specifications hereinafter referred to, and provided further that nineteen
hundred and nineteen (1919~ feet of said sewer be laid upon a steel reinforced cement
concrete footing as shown on said plans;
(h~ Alse that sixty (60) feet of twelve (12) inch diameter saltglazed vitrified
ironstone pipe sanitary sewer with one (l~) red burnt brick manhole capped with cast
iron frame and cover, be constructed across said avenue at a point two thousand and
ten (2010) feet southwesterly from the southwesterly line of Railroad Avenue, and in
the 7~rticularly location and to the depths, sizes, forms and dimensions as all are
more fully shown on the plans, profiles, detailed drawings and specifications here-
inafter referred to; said sewer to be laid upon a steel reinfoced cement concrete
footing as shown on said plans;
(i) Also that fifty-eight (BS) feet of eighteen (18) inch diameter saltglazed
vitrified ironstone pipe sanitary sewer with one (1) red burnt brick manhole, capped wish
cast iron frame and cover, be constructed across said avenue, at a point three thousand and
seventy-six (30?6) feet southwesterly from the southwesterly line of Railroad Avenue and in
particularl location and to the depth, sizes, forms and dimensions as all are more fully
shown on the plans, profiles, detailed drawings and specifications hereinafter referred
to; said sewer to be laid upon a steel reinforced ,':eemen~ concrete fo'oting as shown on
said plans;
(JD Also that a twleve (12] inch ' diameter cement concrete pipe. storm sewer with
two (2) red burnt brick catchbasins, capped with cast iron frames and gratings be con-
structed across said avenue from gutter to gutter, at a point six hundred (600I feet southwester-
ly from the southwesterly line of Railroad Avenue, and thence continuing s.aid storm sewer from
thee catchbasin at its easterly end by the' construction of two hundred and three and twenty-
five hnndred (203,25) feet of fifteen (15) inch diameter cement concrete pipe storm sewer
to the northerly Side of the hereinbefore proposed concrete bridge; said storm sewer of both
said sizes shall be laid upon a steel reinforced cement concrete foo. ting, all of which shall
be of the forms, sizes, dimensions and to the depths and in the particular, locations as all
are more particularly shown on the plans, prgfiles, detailed drawings and specifications
hereinafter referred to;

(kD Also that a ten (101 inch diameter cement concrete pipe storm sswer~ with
two (2) red burnt brick catchbasins, capped with cast iron frames and gratings, be constructed
across said avenue from gutter to gutter,tat a point eleven hundred and twenty-five (1128D
feet southwesterly from the southwesterly line of Railroad Avenue, and continuing said storm
sewer from the catchbasin at its easterly end by construction of two hundred eighty-four and
twenty-five hundredths (284.25) feet Of twelve (12D inch diameter cement concrete pipe storm
sewer to the southerly side of the hereinbefore proposed concrete bridge; said storm sewer
of both sizes shall be laid u~on a steel reinforced cement concrete footing, all of which
shall be of the forms, sizes, dimensions and to the depths and in the particular locations
as all are more t~articUlarly shown on the plans, profiles, detaile~ drawings and specifications
hereinafter referred to;
(11 Also that two (2) lengths of 46 feet each of 12 inch diameter cement Concrete
pipe storm sewer with a red burnt brick catchbasin, capped with cast iron frames and gratings
at ea6h end Of both such lengths, be constructed on each side of Linden Avenue extending south-
erly from~the southerly line of Railroad Avenue as more particularly shown on the hereinbefore
n~entioned plans.
(mD Also that~forty-four (441 electroliers, consisting of hollow-spun granite street
lighting columns, Westinghouse Belmont design, with Washington street lighting ~uits and lamps,
together with conduit, wires, safety coils and concrete foundations to be number and of the
sizes and in the particular locations, as all ~re more fully shown on the planS hereinafter
referred to, be constructed on both side~ of~said Linden Avenue for the full l~ngth thereof;
(nl Also that a steel reinforced cement concrete wall be constructed at the
westerly end of the existing bridge which crosses said Linden Avenue at. a point about fif-
teen hundred (15001 southerly from the southerly line Of Railroad Avenue~, and that a steel
reinforced cement concrete wall be constructed at the easterly end of said bridge, both
walls be constructed in such manner as to prevent water ~rom flowing under said bridge,
and also that the curb, coping, and guard rail of said existing bridge be removed; said
walls shall be of the forms, sizes, dimensions and in the locations as all are more part-
icularly shown on the plans, profiles, detailed drawings and specifications hereinafter
referred to;
Section 2. That Dollar Avenue from the southerly line of Linden~Avenue to the
northerly line of Tanforan Avenue be improved as follows, to-wit:
(aD By grading said avenue for the full length ~nd full width thereof and
in accordance with plans, pr6files, detailed drawings and specifications hereinafter re-
ferred to;
(b) By constructing on both sides of said avenue, for the full length there-
of, a combined hydraulic cement concrete curb and gutter and by constructing on the west-
erly side of said avenue, for the full length thereof, a hydraulic cement concrete side-
walk, and also-by paving the roadway of said avenue, for the full length thereof and
between 'the herein proposed gutters, with a pavement consisting of a three (31 inch
~asph~ltic concrete base pavement laid upon a six (6) inch waterbound rock macada~ sub-base
or cushion ~nd two (2) inch asphaltic concrete wearing surface laid upon, such base pave-
ment, all of which shall be of the forms, sizes, dimensions and in the locations as all are
more particularly shown on the plans, profiles, detailed drawings and specifications here-
inafter referred to;
(c) Also that sixty (601 feet of eighteen (18D inch diameter cement ~con-
crete pipe storm water sewer, with two (2) red burnt brick catchbasins, capped with cast
iron ~rames and ~a~ings, be constructed across.said Dollar Avenue at a point five hundred
.... ,~, ~.~ ua~-~ o.~,o,, ea~asf~,"~appe~-~i'~"~ iron frames and gratings, be con-
structed across said avenue from gutter to gutter, at a point six hundred ($00) feet southwester-
ly ~from the southwesterly line of RailroaR Avenue, and thence continuing said storm sewer from
the catchbasin at its easterly end by the construction o£ two h~ndred and three and twenty-
five hundred 1£0~.2§) feet of fifteen (1~) inch diameter cement concrete pipe storm sewer
to the northerly Side of the hereinbefore proposed concrete bridge~ said storm sewer of both
said sizes shall be laid upon a steel reinforced cement concrete footing, all of which shall
be of the forms, sizes, dimensions and to the depths and in the particular~ locations as all
are more particularly shown on the plans, prgfiles, detailed drawings and specifications
hereinafter referred to;
(k} Also that a ten (10} inch diameter cement concrete pipe storm s~wer~ with
two ~) red burnt brick catchbasins, capped with cast iron frames and gratings, be constructed
across said avenue from gutter to gutter,~at a point eleven hundred and twenty-five (1125~
feet southwesterly from the southwesterly line of Railroad Avenue, -and continuing said storm
sewer from the c~tchbasin at its easterly end by construction of two hundred eighty-four and
twenty-five hundredths ~284.25) feet of twelve II2~ inch diameter'cement concrete pipe storm
sewer to the southerly side of the hereinbefore proposed concrete bridge; said storm sewer
of both sizes shall be laid uT.~on a steel reinforced cement concrete footing, all of which
shall be of the forms, sizes, dimensions and to the depths and in the particular locations
as all are more particUlarly shown on the plans, profiles, detaile~ drCwings and specifications
hereinafter referred to;
(1) Also that two (~) lengths of 46 feet each of 12 inch diameter cement Concrete
pipe storm sewer with a red burnt brick catchbasin, capped with cast iron frames and gratings
at ea6h end Of both such lengths, be constructed on each side of Linden Avenue extending south-
erly from~the southerly line of Railroad Avenue as more particularly shown on the hereinbefore
mentioned plans.
~m) Also that'forty-four (¢4) electroliers, consisting of hollow-spun granite street
lighting columns, Westinghouse Belmont design, with Wzshington street li'ghting units and lamps,
together with conduit, wires, safety coils and concrete foundations to be number and of the
sizes and in the particular locations, as all ~re more fully shown on the planS hereinafter
referred to, be constructed on both side~ of 's~id Linden Avenue for the full l~ngth thereof;
{n) Also that a steel reinforced cement concrete wall be constructed at the
westerly end of the existing bridge which crosses said Linden Avenue at. a point about fif-
teen hundred ~l~O0) southerly from the southerly line Of Railroad Avenue~, and that a steel
reinforced cement concrete wall be constructed at the easterly end of said bridge, bosh
walls be constructed in such manner as to prevent water ~rom flowing under said bridge,
~d also that the curb, coping, and guard rail of said existing bridge be removed; said
walls shall be of the forms, sizes, dimensions and in the locations as all are more part-
icularly shown on the plans, profiles, detailed drawings and specifications hereinafter
referred to;
Section 2, That Dollar Avenue from the southerly line of Linden~Avenue to the
northerly line of Tanforan Avenue be improved as follows, to-wit:
(a) By grading said avenue for the full length and full width thereof and
in accordance with plans, pr6files, detailed drmwings and specifications hereinafter re-
ferred to; ~
(b) By constructing on both sides of said avenue, fer the full length there-
of, a combined hydraulic cement concrete curb and gutter and by constructing on the west-
erly side of said avenue, for the full length thereof, a hydraulic cement concrete side-
walk, and also .by paving the roadway of said avenue, for the full length thereof and
between ~the herein proposed gutters, with a pavement consisting of a three ~Z) inch
.asphaltic concrete base pavement laid upon a six ~6) inch waterbound rock macadam sub-base
or cushion ~nd two ~) inch asphaltic concrete wearing surface laid upon. such base pave-
ment, all of which shall be of the forms, sizes, dimensions and in the locations as all are
more particularly shown on the plans, profiles, detailed drawings and specifications here-
inafter referred to;
(c) Also that sixty ~60} feet of eighteen ~18) inch diameter cement con-
crete pipe storm water sewer, with two ~2) red burnt brick catchbasins, capped w~th cast
iron frames and gratings, be constructed across said Dollar Avenue at a point five hundred
~nd thirty-five ~Z~) feet southerly from the Centerline of Linden Avenue, all of which
shall be of the forms, sizes, dimensions, to the depths and in the locations as all are
more particularly shown on the plans, profiles, detailed drawings an~ specifications
hereinafter referred to;
Section ~. That the northerly one-half (l/E) of Tanforan Avenue, from the
westerly line of the Southern Pacific Company's B~y Shore Branch to the northeasterly
line of the right of way of the Southern Pacific Company's Valencia Street Branch, in-
cluding all intersections and terminations and portions thereof, be improved as follows,
to-wit:
~a} By grading said street for the full length thereof, and f~r a width ex-
tending from the centerline of said street to the northerly line thereof, and in accord-
ance with the plans, profiles, detaile~ drawings and specifications hereinafter referred
to; ~
(b} By constructing on the northerly side of said street for the full
length thereof a combined hydraulic cement concrete curb and gutter and a hydraulic
cement sidewalk, and also by constructing along the centerline of said street a two
[2) inch by eight ~8) inch redwood header board for the full length thereof, and
also by paving the roadway area for the full length thereof, for a width between
said proposed headerboard and the hrerinproposed gutter with a pavement consist-
ing pfa three [3) inch asphaltic concrete base pavement laid upon a six
inch waterbound rock macadam sub-base or cushion and a two (2) inch asphaltic
concrete wearing surface laid upon such base' pavement, all of which shall be of
the forms, sizes, dimensions and in the locations as all are more particularly
shown on the plans, profiles, detailed drawings and epecifications hereinafter
re re. fred to;
Section 4. That Huntington Avenue East, from the northerly line of Tan-
foran Avenue northwesterly to theeasterly line of that certain right of way
granted the Southern Pacific Company by the South San Francisco Land and
Improvement Company and recorded July 18, 1927, in Volume 292 of Official
Records of San Mateo County, at page 449, .thereof, be improved as follows,
to-wit:
~al By grading said street for the full length as above described
for the full width thereof, and in accordance withthe plans, profiles, de-
tailed drawings smd specifications hereinafter referred to;
Ibl By constructing on both sides of s~id street, for the full
length as above described, combined hydraulic cement concrete curbs and·
gutters, and also by constructing on the northeasterly side of said street,
for the full length as above described, a hydraulic cement concrete-side-
walk, and also by paving the roadway of said street between the herein pro-
posed gutters with a pavement consisting of three ~) inches of asphaltic
concrete base pavement laid upon a six ~6) inch waterbound rock macadam sub-base
or cushion and a two (2) inch asphaltic concrete wearing surface laid upon
such base pavement, which shall be of the forms, sizes, dimensions and in
the locations as all are more particularly shown on the plans, profiles, de-
tailed drawings and specifications hereinafter referred to;
All work herein provided for shall be done in accordance with the special
plans, profiles and specifications for said work, which plans, profiles and ~
specifications are entitled," Plans, profiles, ~detailed drawings and spec-
ifications for the construction of improvement work upon Linden Avenue from
the northerly line of R~ilroad Avenue to the westerly line of the right of
way of the Southern Pacific Company's Bay Shore line, Dollar Avenue, Tanforan
~venue and Huntington Avenue East, in the City of South San ~rancisco,~County
of San Mateo, State of California," which plans, profiles, detailed draw-
ings and specifications were heretofore adopted by said City Council on the
16th day of June, 19Z0, and are now on file in the office of the City Clerk.
Reference is hereby made to said plans, profiles ~nd specifications for the
description of the grade at which the work is to be done and for a full
description off,aid work, and for the locations and e×tent of the work to be
d~ne hereunder, and for a particular description of the boundaries of the
district herein mentioned.
And said City. Council does hereby determine and declare that said
proposed work and improvement is of more th~n local or ordinary public
benefit and will affect a~d benefit the lands and district hereinafter
described, which said district is hereby declared to be the district
benefitted by said work and improvement; and that therefore the entire
costs and expenses of said work and im~rovement shall be and are hereby
made chargeable against and shall be assessed upon said lands and district,
except as hereinafter expressly provided, which distr~ct is within said
City of South San Francisco, County of San Mateo, State of California,
and particularly described as follows, to-wit:
Beginning at a point in the norhterly line of Railroad Avenue, dis-
tnat thereon North 74o 2?' West 200 feet from the westerly line of Linden
Avenue; thence south ~4° ~?' East along said northerly line of Railroad
~venue and its extension easterly ?80 feet, more or less to the westerly~
line of Bay Shore Highway; thence southerly along said westerly line of
Bay Shore Highway to its intersection with the westerly line of the
Souti~ern Pacific Company's right of way, Bay Shore Branch, thence on and
along said westerly line of the Southern Pacific Company's right of way
to its intersection with the most northerly line of that certain tract~
of land conveyed to A. J. and J. L. Fairbanks, Inc, by the South San
~rancisco Land and Improvement Company by deed recorded May 19, 192~,
in Volume 172 of San Mateo County Official Records, at page ~4; thence
along said northerly line, extended easterly, to the centerline of the
said Southern Pacific Company's Bay Shore Branch; thence southerly along
~said centerline to its intersection with 'the southerly line'of Tanforan
Avenue, produced easterly; thence westerly along said southerly line of
Tanforan Avenue and its production westerly to its intersection with the
westerly line of the Southern Pacific Company's Valencia Street Branch
right of way; thence northerly 600 feet along said westerly line of the
foran Avenue northwesterly to the.easterly line of that certain righ~ of way
granted the Southern Pacific Company by the South San Francisco I~nd and
Improvement Company and recorded July 18, 19£?, in Volume 292 of Official
Records of San Mateo County, at page 4~9, ~thereof, be improved as follows,
to-wit:
~al By grading said street for the full length as above described
for the full width thereof, and in accordance with the plans, profiles, de-
tailed drawings and specifications hereinafter referred to;
(b~ By constructing on both sides of said street, for the full
length as above described, combined hydraulic cement concrete curbs and
gutters, and also by constructing on the northeasterly side of said street,
for the full length as above described, a hydraulic cement concrete- side-
walk, and also by paving the roadway of said street between the herein pro-
posed gutters with a pavement consisting of three ~Z) inches of asphaltic
concrete base pavement laid upon a six ~6) inch waterbound rock macadam sub-base
or cushion and a two ~2) inch asphaltic concrete wearing surface laid upon
such base pavement, which shall be of the forms, sizes, dimensions and in
the locations as all are more particularly shown on the plans, profiles, de-
tailed drawings and specifications hereinafter referred to;
All work herein provided for shall be done in accordance with the special
plans, profiles and specifications for said work, which plans, profiles and ~
specifications are entitled," Plans, profiles, detailed drawings and spec-
ifications for the construction of improvement work upon Linden Avenue from

ings and specifications were heretofore adopted by said City Council on the
16th day of June, 19Z0, and are now on file in the office of the City Clerk.
Reference is hereby made to said plans, profiles ~nd specifications for the
description of the grade at which the work is to be done and for a full
description off,aid work, and for the locations and extent of the work to be
d~ne hereunder, and for a particular description of the boundaries of the
district herein mentioned.
And said City Council does hereby determine and declare that said
proposed work and improvement is of more th~n local or ordinary public
benefit and will affect a~d benefit the lands and district hereinafter
described, which said district is hereby declared to be the district
benefitted by said work and improvement; and that therefore the entire
costs and expenses of said work and im?rovement shall be and are hereby
made chargeable against and shall be assessed upon said lands and district,
except as hereinafter expressly provided, which distr~ct is within said
City of South San Francisco, County of San Mateo, State of California,
and particularly described as follows, to-wit:
Beginning at a point in the norhterly line of Railroad Avenue, dis-
tnat thereon North ~o 2?' West 200 feet from the westerly line of Linden
~venue; thence south ~o 27, East along said northerly line of Railroad
Avenue and its extension easterly ~80 feet, more or less to the westerly.

of land conveyed to A. J. and J. L. Fairbanks, Inc. by the South San

along said northerly line, extended easterly, to the centerline of the
said Southern Pacific Company's Bay Shore Branch; thence southerly along
~said centerline to its intersection with the southerly line 'of Tanforan
Avenue, produced easterly; thence westerly along said southerly line of
Tanforan Avenue and its production westerly to its intersection with the
westerly line of the Southern Pacific Company's Valencia Street Branch
right of way; thence northerly 600 feet along said westerly line of the
Southern Pacific Company's V~lencia Street Branch right of way; thence
120 feet easterly at right angles thereto, to the point of intersection
of the easterly line of Huntington Avenue East with the easterly line of
that certain Railroad right of way granted the Southern P~cific Company
by the South San F~ancisco Land and Improvement Company and recorded
July 18, 19~, in ~olume 292 of Official Records of San Mateo County,
at page ~&9; thence northeasterly along said railroad right of way to
iSs intersection with the southerly line produced westerly of that cer-
tain parcel of laud conveyed to George H. Morrill Compan$ of California
by the South San ~rancisco Land and Improvement Company, and recorded
February 16, 192~, in Volume 282 of Official Records of San Mateo County
at page l~; thence northerly and easterly along the boundaries of said
parcelto the southwesterly corner of that certain parcel of land con-
veyed to the Union Ice Company by the South San ~rancisco I~nd and
Improvement Company, and recorded October 6, 191Z, in Volume ~£8 of
Deeds, at page ~2, Records of San Mateo County; thence northerly along

northerly line of Railroad Avenue and the point of beginning.
Saving and excepting and excluding from said district all public streets,
avenues, and alleys, lanes, courts and places included and contained.
The work of constructing the electroliers herein provided for shall also
be done in accordance with the terms and conditions set forth in that certain patent
license agreement dated May 15, 1930, and now on file in the office of ~the City Clerk
of said City of South San Franoi~co, U. S. Letter Patent fo~ such ele~ctroliers being
held or controlled by Westinghouse Electric & ~1anufacturing Co., and the con-tractor,
to whom said contract may be awarded, will be required to procure such electroliers
from said Westinghouse Electric & Manufact~ring Co., as provided in said patent
-licensee agreement.
Said City of South San Francisco hereby agrees to pay, out of its general
fund one-half of the cost of construct%ng the mpst northerlE of the two bridges .herein
provided to be-constructed.
Notice is hereby given that serial bonds to represent unpaid assessments
and bear interest at the rate of seven (.7) per cent per annum will be issued here-
under in the manner specified in the "Improvement Bond Act of 1915" and the amend-
ments thereto, the last installment of~which bonds shall mature nine (9) years from
the 2nd day of July next succeeding ten (10) months from their date.
"The Enterprise and The South San Francisco Journal'', a newspaper of.
general circulation, printed and published in said City of South San Francisco, is
hereby designated as the newspaper in which this resolution of intention shall be
published, and the City Clerk is hereby directed to cause this resolution of in-
tention to be published by two (2) insertions in the manner and form require~ by
law.
The Superintendent of' Streets shall cause to be conspicuously posted along the
line of said contemplated work or in~provement, at not more than Three Hundr~ed (~00) feet.
in distance apart, and along all the open streets within s~id district and in front of
all the property liable to be assessed and not. more than three hundred (300~ feet in dis-
tance apart, but not less than three (3) in all in each street in said district, notices
of the passage of this resolution of inten~tion in the manner~ and form required by the
"Improvement Act of 1911" and the amendments thereto.
Notice is hereby given that on Monday, the 7th day of July, 1930, at the hour
of 7:30 o'clock p.~m. in the Chamber of the City Council, of the City of South San Fran-
cisco, any and all persons having nay objections to the proposed work and improvement
may appear before said City Council and show cause why said proposed improvement should
not be carried out in ~ccordance with this resolution.
Except as hereinbefore provided, all of the herein proposed work shall, be
done in pursuance of an act of the Zegislature of the State of California, designated as
the "Improvement Act of 1911," approved April 7, 1911, and the amendments thereto.
