RESOLUTION ORDERING CONSTRUCTION OF TRAffIC SIGNALS AT THE
INTERSECTION 0F GRAND AVENUE WITH LINDEN AVENUE AND AT THE
INTERSECTION OF GRAND AVENUE WITH SAN BRUNO ROAD, IN THE
CITY 0~ SOUTH SAN ~RANCISC0.
RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that public
interest and convenience require the work herein described, and that the City
Council of the City of South San Franc isc~ hereby orde.rs the following work to be
done in said City, to-wit:
The construction of traffic signals at the intersection of Grand Avenue
with Linden Avenue, and at the intersection of Grand Avenue with San Bruno Road
in the said City.
All work herein provided for shall be done to official grade and in accord-
ance with the plans and specifications for said work, which plans and specifications
were heretofore adopted by said City Council for doing said work and are now on file
in the office of the City Clerk, to which plans and specifications reference is
hereby made for a description of said work.
The city Clerk is hereby directed to publish for two (E) weeks in "The
Enterprise and The South~San Francisco Journal", a newspaper of general cir-
culation, printed and published in said City of South San Francisco, the follow-
ing notice inviting sealed proposals or bids for said improvement work in the City
of South San Francisco:

Sealed proposals will be received by the City Council of the City .of
South San Francisco until 7:80 o'clock p, m. on Monday, the 19th day of
January, 1931, for doing the following work in the City of South San ~ran-
cisco, County of San Mateo, State of California:
The consturction of traffic signals at. the intersection of Grand
Avenue with Linden Avenue and at the intersection of Grand Avenue with San
Bruno Road, in said City of South San Francisco.
All materi~l and all work must be in strict compliance with the
plans and specifications adopted by the City Council on the l~th day of
December, 1930, ~nd now on file in the office of the City Clerk, The
successful bidder shall, within ten (10~ days after the award, enter into
a contract with the City of South San ~rancisco for the faithful perform-
ance ~of the work to be done under said award,
All proposals must be accompanied with a certified check upon a solvent
bank of the State of California, payable to the City of South San Francisco,
in an amount not less than ten (10~ per cent of the aggregate of the bid,
upon the condition that if the proposal be accepted and the contract awarded,
and if the bidder shall fail and neglect to execute the contract and give the
bonds required, the sum mentioned in said check s?~ll be liquidated damages
for such failure and neglect, and shall be forfeited to and paid into the
treasurery of the City of-South San ~rancisco.
The bidder to whom is awarded a contract will be required to execute
a bond for the faithful performance of his work in ah amount equal to twenty-
five (~) per cent of the amount of his undertaking, with at least two (~)
responsible sureties in the full amount of the bid each; and will also be
required, before entering upon the work, ~o furnish a good and sufficient
bond a~ required by an act of the Legislature of the State of California,
approved May lC, 1919, ,entitled "an Act tO secure the claims o~ material-
men, mechanics, or laborers employed by contractors upon state, municipal
or other public work," and will also be required to exhibit to said City
Council a policy of insurance showing that said bidder is insured against
loss through accident or negligence, in such a way as to satisfactorily
protect said City of South San i~rancisco under the provimicms~ of the
"Workmen's Compensation, Insurance and Safety Act of the State of Calif-
ornia."
The contract must be entered into in compliauce with and subject
to the conditions imposed by Section 6BZc of the Penal Code of the state
of California.
Sealed proposals or bids will be ~elivered to the City Clerk on
or before 7:30 o'clock p. m. on Monday, the 19th day of Jan~ry, 1931.
All sealed proposals or bids will be opened by said City Council
in public session on Monday, the 19th day of Jann~ry, 19S1, at ?:LO o'clock
p. m. in the Council Chamber of said City Council.
