AT TWE INTERSECTION .0F GRAND AVENU~ WITH LINDEN AVENUE
AND AT THE INTERSECTION QF GRAND AVENUE WITH SAN BRUNO
ROAD, IN THE CITY 0F SOUTH SAN FRANCIS00. '
RESOZVED by the City Council of the City of South Ssa Frar~isoo that public
interest and convenience require the work'herein'described; and ~hat the City Council
of the City of South San Francisco hereby orders the following work t~ be done im
said 0ity, to-wit: ~
The construction of traffic signals at the intersection of Grand Avenue with
Zinden Avenue, and at the intersection of Grand Avenue with San Bruno Road in said
City.
All work herein provided for sh~ll be done to ~ficial grade and i~ accordance
with the plans and specifications for said work, which plans and specifications were
on the 2End day of Jsmuary, 1951, adopted by said City Council for doing said work aud
are now on file in the office of the City Clerk, to which plans and specifications
reference is hereby made for a description of said work.
The City Clerk is hereby ~ireoted to publish fDr two (P.) weeks in "The Enter-
prise and The South Ssa Francisco Journal," a newspaper of general circulation, print-
ed and published in said City of South San Francisco, the following notice inviting
sealed proposals or bids for said improvement work in the City of South San Francisco;

AND AT THE INTERSECTION OF GRAND AVENUE WITH SAN BRUNO ROAD IN
THE C ITT OF SOUTH SAN FRANCI SC 0.
Sealed proposals will be received by the City Council of the City of South
San Francisco until ?:30 o'clock p. m. on Monday, the 16th day of February, 1931,
for doing the following work in ~he City of' South San Francisco, County Of San Mateo,
State of Califormia:
The construction of traffic signals mt the intersection of Grand Avenue-with
~inden Avenue and at the intersection of Grand Avenue with San Bruno Road, in' sai~
City of South San Francisco.
All material and all work must be in strict compliance with the plans and
specifications adopted by the City Council on the 22n d day of January, 1931, and
now on file in the office of the City Clerk. The successful bidder shall, within
ten (10~ days after the award, enter into a contract with the City of South San
~ranci~co for the fai~h£ul performance of the work to be done under said award.
All proposals must be accompanied with a certified check upon a solvent'
bank of the State of California, payable to the City of South San ~rancisco, in an
amount not less than ten ~10) per cent of the agg,regate of the bid, upon the con-
dition that if the proposal be acco?ted and the contract awarded, and if the bidder
sh~ll fail and neglect to execute the contract and give the bonds required, the sum

mentioned in said check shall be liquidated dam~.ges for such failure and neglect, and
shall be forfeited to and paid into the treasury of the City of South San Francisco,
The bidder' to whom is awarded a contract will be required to execute a
bond for the faithful performance of his work in an amount equal to twenty-five (25)
per cent of the amount of his undertaking, with at least two (2) responsible sureties in
the full amount of the bid each; and will also be required, before entering upon the work,
to furnish a good and sufficient bond as required by an act of the Legislature of the
State of California, approved May lC, 1919, entitled "An act to secure the claims of
ma~erialmen, mechancis, or laborers employed by contractors upon state, municipal or other
public work, '" and will also be required to exhibit to said City Council a policy of
insurance showing that said bidder is insured against loss through accident or neg-
ligence, in such a way as to satisfactorily protect said City of South San Francisco
under the provisions of the "Workmen's Compensation, Insurance and Safety Act of the
State of California,"
The contract must be entered into in'compliance with and subject to
the conditions imposed Sy Section 653c of the Penal Code of the State of California.
Sealed proposals or bids will be delivered to the City Clerk on or
before ?:30 o'clock p. m, on Monday the 16th day of ~ebruary, 1931.
All-sealed proposals or bids will 'be opened by said City Council in
public session'on Monday, the 16th day of'February, 1931, at ?:30 o'clbck p. m. in
the Council Chamber of said City Council.
The City Council hereby reserves the right to reject any and all bids.
