BUILDING
· Whereas, the present lease of post office quarters in South San
~ranoieco expires in September, 1935; and
WHEREAS, a tentative allocation for a federal building for this
city was made by ~he government as early as 1931; and
WHEREAS, at least two other post offices in California doing less
business than South San ~rancisco have been awarded new federal buildings; and
WHEREAS, South San Francisco is a rapidly growing industrial center
where postal receipts doubled prior to 1929 and have shown a substantial gain since
the depression fiscal year 1931-32; and
WHEREAS, Mills ~ield, The San ~ranctsco municipal air port and the
Western terminus of all transcontinental air lines, is now being served' by the
South San ~rancisco Post Office; and
WHEREAS, the construction of a federal building at this time will
stimulate business activity~and employment and will pay dividends as the growth
of the city increases.
NO~ THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
South San ~ran~isco recomends an appropriation for the immediate construction of
a federal building in South Sam ~rancisco; and further that copies of this re-
solution be sent to the Post Office Department, the Treasury Department and our
representatives in Washington.

troduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San ~rancis~co t~his
28th day of January, 1935, by the following vote:
