WHEREAS the City Council of the City of South San Francisco did, in open
session, on the 18th day of November, 19S5, publicly open, examine and declare all
sealed proposals or bids for doing the sewer construction work provided for in t he
resolution adopted on the 5th day of November, 1955, for sewer construction work in
the south industrial area in said City of South San Francisco, which work is herein-
after described, to which resolution reference is hereby made for further particulars;
RESOLVED that said City Council hereby rejects all said proposals or bids,
except that next hereinafter mentioned, and hereby awards the contract for said sewer
construction work to the lowest responsible bidder, to-wit: Frank Souza, Manuel Souza,
-~ntonio Souza and M. H. Harkins, a copartnership, doing business under the firm
name of Oakland Sewer Construction Co., at the prices named in its bid, to-wit:
Item A: Construction of ~S~ lineal feet, more or less, of 18
inch diameter vitrified salt glazed pipe sanitary sewer,
including all incidental work, the sum of $2.20 per
lineal foot.
Item B:
Construction of 100 lineal feet, more or less, of 18
inch diameter cast iron pipe sanitary sewer, including
all incidental work, the sum of $5.50 per lineal foot.
Item C:
Construction of 64 lineal feet, more or less, of 26
inch diameter wrought steel casing, including all in-
cidental work, the sum of $~.50 per lineal foot.
Item D: Construction of 4 standard brick manhole~, capped with
cast iron fr~nes and covers, the sum of $60.00 each.
Item E:
Item F:
Construction of I manhole support $25.00.
ConstrUction of 1880 lineal feet, more or less, of 4" x
redwood piling, driven in place, not including cut-off,
the sum of $.15 per lineal foot.
Item G:
Construction of 2000 feet board measure, more or less,
redwood lumber, caps, planks md collars, including all
incidental' work, thesum of $150.00 per 1000 feet.
The work, for which a contract is hereby awarded to said Oakland Sewer
Construction Co., consists of the following:
The construction of an eighteen (18) inch diameter vitrified salt glazed
sanitary pipe sewer with cement joints;
The construction of an eighteen (18) inch diameter cast iron pipe sanitary
sewer with petrolastic cement joints;
The construction of a twenty-six (26) inch diameter wrought steel pipe casing;
The construction of red burnt brick manholes capped with cast iron frames
and covers;
The construction of manhole supports;
The construction of four (4) inch by four (4) inch redwood lumber piles,
complete with caps, planks and collars.
The contract for said work shall be entered into and said work shall be
performed, in strict accordance with the provisions of notice inviting sealed
proposals or bids for sewer construction work in the City of South San Francisco
forming a part of said resolution.

I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced and
adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco, this 2§th day of
November, 195§, by the following vote:
