RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that public
interest and convenience require that the City of South San Francisco shall purchase the
reinforced concrete storm water sewer nine me.~.omoned and referred to in the snecm_mcatmons
for such reinforced concrete ~
~orm water sewer pi~e, adopted by the City Council of said
City of South San Francisoc on the 9Zrd day of September, 19Z$o
Ail such reinforced storm water sewer pipe ~hall be in strict accordance
with said snecifications.
The City Clerk is herebT? directed to cause a notice inviting sealed proposals
for furnishing such reinforced concrete storn water sewer pipe to said city to be published
by two (9) insertions thereof, not less than five (b) days apart, in "The Enterprise
and the South San Francisco Journal," a newspaper of ~eneral circulation publishe~
and circulated in said City of South San Francisco, wh$ch notice shall be substantially
in the following form:

City Council of the City of South San Francisco on the 19th day of OctobeF, 19~6, ~til
the hour of 8:00 o'clock p. m. for furnishin~T reinforced concrete storm water sewer pipe
to said City of South San Francisco.
All such reinforced concrete storm water sewer pipe shall be furnished in
strict accordance with the specifications adopted for such pipe by said City Council on
the 93rd day of September, 1936.
The contract to be awarded shall contain a further stipulation that the con-
tractor, to whom such contract may be awarded, shall use or supply only such ~manu-
factured articles, materials, andsupp!ies as may have been mined or produced in the
United States and onl~r such manufactured articles, materials, and supplies as have been
manufactured i~ the United States, substantially from all articles, materials or
supplies mined, produced, or so manufactured~ as the case may be, in the United States,
excepting only where such articles, materials, or supnlies of the class or kind to be
used, or the articles, materials or supnties from which'*~

mined, produced or manufactured, as the case may be in United States, as required b~y an
act of the Legislature of the State of California entitled: "An act to require the use
of materials ~d supplies substantially produced in the United States, in public works

The successfz~l bidder shall, within ten (10) days,- af-ter the award, enter
into a contract with the Cit]? of South San Francisco for furnishing said sewer pipe to
said citT?. Ail proposals must be accompanied bV a certified check upon a solvent
bank in the State of California, payable to the CitTz of South San Francisco in a~
amount not less than ten (10) per cent of the aggre2ate of the bid upon the condition
that, if the proposal be accepted and the contract awarde and the bidder shall fail and
ne.glect to execute a contract and zive the bond required, the sznn mentio~aed in said
check shall be liquidated dsumases for such failure and ne.ylect and shall be forfeited to
and paid into the treasury of the City of South San Francisco. The bidder to whom the
contract is awarded will be required to e:~ecute a ~oond for the faithful performance of
his work in an amount equal to fifty (50) percent of the amount of the undertakin~ with
at least two (2) responsible sureties in the full amount of the bid each.
Specifications and proposal sheets may be obtained at the office of George
A. Kneese, City En2ineer of said City of South San Francisco, at No. ~382 Broadway,
Redwood City, California.
Sealed oroposals or bids will be delivered to the City Clerk on or before
8:00 o'clock p. m. on ~onday, the.19th day of October, 1935. Ail sealed proposals will
be opened by said City Council in public session on ~onday, the l~th day of October,
at 8:00 o'clock p. m. at the council chamber of said City Council.
Said City Council reserves the right to reject any and all bids.
