RESULTS OF SPECIAL MUNICIPAL E~LECTION HELD
IN THE CITY $i~ SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, ON
SEPTEMBER 2V, 1~
WHEREAS a special municipal election was held in and through the City of South
San Francisco on the 2~th day of September, 1938, at which there were submitted to the
electors of said City~ the p~opositions hereinafter set forth, and
WHEREAS the city clerk of said city has duly presented to the city council of
the City of South San Francisco all the returns of the votes cast a~ said special elec-
tion; and
WHEREAS said city council has inspected ~nd examined all said returns;
NOW, THEREFORE, reso~lved by the city cotmcil of the City of South San Francisco
that said city council finds as follows:
The ~hole number of votes cast in said City of South San Francisco at special
election is 1,812 including the absentee vote hereinafter mentioned.
The propositions voted upon at said special election are as follows:
Proposition No. l: The acquisition, c0n~truction and completion of recreation
center buildings, including a swimming tank, appurtenances and equipment.
Proposition No. 2: The acquisition, construction and completion of a central
fire station and furnishings and equipment for said fire station and the acquisition of
theland necessary for such fire station and the acquisition of a combination pumping en-
gine and hose wagon, and the acquisition of an aerial ladder truck with a sixty-five (65)
foot ladder.
That in Consolidated Voting Precinct "A", the number of votes given for said Pro-
position No. 1 is 270, and the number of votes given against said Proposition No. I is 181.
That in Consolidated Voting Precinct "A", the number of votes given for said Pro-
position No. 2 is 208, and the number of votes given against said Proposition No. 2 is~ 21V.
That in Consolidated Voting Precinct ~Bm, the number of votes given for said Pro-
position No. I is 233, and the number of votes given against said Proposition No. 1 is 210.
That in Consolidated Voting Precinct "B", the number of votes given for said Pro-
position No. 2 is 211, and the number of votes given against said Proposition No. 2 is 226.
That in Consolidated Voting Precinct "C", the number of votes given for said Pro-
position No. i is 19~, and the number of votes given against said Proposition No. I is 2~8~
That in Consolidated Voting Precinct "C''~, the number of votes given for said Pro-
position No. 2 is 191, and the number of votes given against said Proposition No. 2 is 249.
That in Consolidated Voting Precinct "D", the number of votes given for said Pro-
position No. i is 119, and the number of votes given against said Proposition No. I is 106.

That in Consolidated Voting Precinct "D'~, the number of votes given for said Pro-
position No. 2 is ll2, and the number of votes given against said Proposition No. 2 is 107.
That in Consolidated Voting Precinct '"E"', the number of votes given for said Pro-
position No. i is. 100, and the number of votes given against said Proposition No. i is ll2.
That in Consolidated Voting Precinct "E'", the number of votes given for said Pro-
position No. 2 is 94, and the number of votes given against said Proposition No. 2 is 109.
That one ~bsentee ballot was cas~ at said election and the vote on said ballot is
as follows: In favor of Proposition No. 2, and against Proposition No. 2.
AND WHEREAS' the total number of votes given at said special elect~on in favor of
said Proposition No. i is 921, and the total number of votes given against said Proposi-
tion No. i is 846; and
WHEREAS the total number of votes~given at said special election in favor of said
Proposition No. 2 is S13, and the total number of votes given against said Proposition
No. 2 is @08; and
WHEREAS the number of votes given at said special election for and in favor of said
Proposition No. i and accepting the same, as aforesiad, to-wit, 921 votes was less two-
thirds (2/3) of all the votes cast at said special election and said votes for and in
favor of accepting the said Proposition No. i were given by less than two-thirds (2/3)
of all the voters voting at said special election; and
WHEREAS due notice of said election was given and said election was held at the
time and in the manner and in all respects as required by law and the ordinances of said
City of South San Francisco and said ordinance No. 199; and
WHEREAS said election was in all respects legally and fairly conducted and the
returns thereof were duly and regularly made and certified to this city council.
NOW, T~iEREFORE, be it resolved by the city council of the City of South San
Francisco, as follows:
That said Proposition No. l, to-wit, the proposition to incur a bonded indebted-
ness in the principal sum' of $113,000 for the ob ject and purpose of the following muni-
cipal improvement, to-wit, the acquisition, construction and completion of recreation
center buildings, including a swimming tank, appurtenances and equipment, was, and said
city council hereby determines and declares, that said Proposition No. l, as aforesaid,
has not carried and was not accepted by the votes of more than two-thirds (2/3) of all
the voters voting in said special election;
That said Proposition No. 2, to-wit, the proposition to incur a bonded indebted-
ness in the principal sum of $6~,000 for the obSect and purpose of the following munici-
pal improvement, to-wit, the acquisition, construction and completionmof a central fire
station and furnishings and equipment for said fire station and the acquisition, of the
land necessary for such fire station and the acquisition of a combination pumping engine
and hose wagon, and the acquisition of an aerial ladder truck with a sixty-five (65)
foot ladder, mas, and said city council hereby determines and declares, that said Proposi-
tion No. 2, as aforesaid, has not carried and was not accepted by the votes of more than
two-thirds (2/3) of all the voters voting in said special election.

I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced and adop-
ted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco, this 3rd day of October,
1938, by the following vote:
Ayes, Councilmen V. Boido, A. J. Eschelbach, M. Minucciani, D. W. Ratto, Rod Tibbetts.
Noes, Councilmen None
Absent, Councilmen None
