THE PROJECT OF REMOVING THE STREET RAILROAD TRACK8 FROM GRAND
AVR~ UE IN THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO AND IN PAVING THE
PORTIONS OF SAID GRAND AVENUE FROM WHICH SUCH TRACKS MAY BE
REMOVED. AND DESIGNATING THE MAYOR OF SAID CITY AS THE
SPONSOR ~S AGENT.
BE IT RESOLVED~ by the city council of the City of South San Francisco:
Section 1: That said City of South San Francisco hereby proposes to the
Works Progress Administration the project of removing the street railroad
tracks in Grand Avenue in said city~ and the construction of pavement in
the portions of Grand Avenue from which said tracks may be removed and
agrees to be sponsor for said project.
Section 2: That A. J. Eschelbach, as mayor of said city, be, and he is~
hereby authorized and directed to execute, as the agent of such sponsor,
the certificate and agreement, required by said Works Progress Administ-
ration for said work.

I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly in-
troduced and adopted by the city council of the City of South San Fran-
cisco, this 6th day of March, 19~9, by the following vote:

NATtNG~R. A. KLASSEN,~ASSISTANT CITY ENGINEER OF SAID CITY, AS THE SOLE RE-
PRESENTATIVE OF SAID CITY WITH RESPECT TO THE WORK OF EXCAVATING THE CHANNEL
OF C0~A CREEK.
RESOLVED by t~e City Council of the City of South San Francisco
that R. A. Klass~n be, and he hereb? is designated as the sole representative
of said city with respect to the work referred to in the agreement between the
City of South San Francisco and the State Department of Public Works covering
the cleaning and repair of Colma Creek channels, dated November 7, 19~8, Emergency
Allotment No~ 8B1, Work Order No. 8~0 -E.-78, and as such representative, said R.A.
Klassen is hereby authorized to handle all matters in relation to said work and to
sign all claims and estimates with respect thereto.
I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced

AGREEmeNT COVERING POLICE ALARM SIGNAL OPERATION
EXISTING INSTALLATION OF RELAY ON SUBSCRIBERS PREMISES
' THIS AGREEMENT, made and entered into this 1Vth day of April, 1939, by and
between the City of' S~uth San FranciscO, a municipal corporation, organized and exist-
ing under and by virtue of the laws of the State of California, hereinafter referred t¢
as the "City" and The Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company, a cc~oration, organizec
and existing.under and by virtue of bhe laws of the State of California, hereinafter
refereed to as the "Telephone Company",
W ITNES SETH:
~hereas the City has established police alarm light signals on the City Hall
and on the Metropolitan Hotel Building and desires to continue the arrangement where-
by said light signals are operated in 6onjunction with telephone facilities located
at the rear of building at 301 Grand Avenue through relay connections so that whe~ the
telephone bell is rung s~id light s~ignals will operabe; and
Whereas the Telephone Company is willing under its present method of operation
cooperate with the City in the matter of operating the said police alarm light
ignals;
Now, Therefore, the respective parties hereto do agree with each other, as
follows:
The Telephone Company agrees in c~operation with the City to attempt to operat~
the police alarm light signals installed on the City Hall and on the Metropolitan
Hotel Building through relay connections in conjunction with the telephone facilities
located at the rear of building at 301 Grand Avenue with the ex~ress understanding the
the Telephone Company has received no consideration whatsoever therefor, and has
assumed and is and shall be under no liability either to the City or any person, firm
or co?poration whatsoever for the installation or operation or maintenance of said
light signals or the turning in of any police alarm signals, snd the City agrees to n~
no claim of any kind whatsoever against the Telephone Company for any default, neglec'
or omission connected with such installation or operation or maintenance of said lig~
signals or the turning in of any police alarm signal.
The City at its own sole cost and expense shall maintain said light signals
with its associated apparatus and appliances.
The City agrees to indemnify the Telephone Company and hold it harmless from
any and all liability, claims, demands, damages or costs arising in any way out of
the installation, construction, maintenanee, operation or nonoperation bY the City
the Telephone Company, or any other person whomsoever, of the police alarm light
signals herein mentioned.
In the event that it shall, in the opinion of the Telephone Company, become
impracticable for the Telephone Company to continue to operate the light signals
installed as herein provided, either by reason of a change in the method of operatioz
of the Telephone Company's system or for other reasons, it is understood that this
agreement may be terminated as hereinafter provided.
This agreement shall continue in force for a period of one year from the
date her~eof, and thereafter until terminated by either of the parties hereto giving
thirty (30) days' notice in writing to the other of its intention so to do. and in
case of such termination of this agreement the City agrees, within thirty ~30) days
after the giving of such notice to remove such light signals and sever all connectio~
between the telephone and telegraph systems of the Telephone Company and the said
police alarm light signals of the city.
This contract shall at all times be subject to such changes or modi~ications
b y the Eailroad Commission of the State of California as said Commission may from
time to time direct in the exercise of its jurisdiction.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the respective parties hereto have caused this
strument to be executed in their corporate names by their officers thereunto duly
authorized the day and year in this agreement first above written.
