RESOLUTION RECOM~IEND!NG THE APPOINTMENT OF PERMANENT
INTER-COUNTY TRANSPORTATION IMPROV~ENT COMMITT~EE~.
WHEREAS'imprOvement of inter-county transportation has been the consideration
of a great number of citizens of the County or.San Mateo and the City aud County of san
Francisco for many years; ~nd
WHEREAS numerous plans for the imprevement of commuting facilities including
highway, railroad and atreet car transportation, nave been previously suggested and
have been abandoned, not because of the lack of merit but because of the want of
coordinated interests and of community organization; and
WHEREAS it is believed that improvements in rapid transit facilities may
be procured at an early date through adjustment of present facilities creating greater
efficiency, but without prohibitive costs for the benefit of the San Francisco- San
Mateo County Peninsula; and
'~EREAS it is vitally important that a complete foundation survey be made
for t~e solution of traffic problems to and from San Francisco and points on said
peninsula;
NOW, THEREFOHE, BE IT RESOLVED by the city council of the City of South San
Francisco as follows: This city council recommends that a permanent inter-county tran~
portation improvement committee be appointed by the several legislative bodies of the
City and County of Said San Mateo County, with instructions to commence immediate study
for the improvement of such transportation facilities;
That the Board of Supervisors of the County of Santa Clara be requested to
appoint a similar transportation com~nittee to collaborate with the several committees
of the City and County of San Francisco and of the County of San Mateo, together with
the several cities in said County of San Mateo.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be sent to the Board
of Supervisors of the City and County of San Francisco, the Board of Supervisors of
Santa Clara County, the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce and to all Chambers of
Commerce, Improvement Clubs and civic bodies in San Mateo County and the northern
portion of Santa Clara County.

I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced
and adopted by the city council of the city of South San FranCisco, this 20th day
of November, 1939, by the following vote:
