HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1586-1950R~SOLUTION NO. 1586 A RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR THE SALE OF A PUBLIC BUILDING LOCATED ON LAND ACQUIRED FOR. THE CONS- TRUCTION OF A SELVAGE DISPOSAL PI~NT AND OTHER PUBLIC PURPOSES. ~/~{~REAS the City Council of the City of South San Francisco did, on the 2nd day of October, 1950, adopt Resolution No. 158&, wherein said city council determined that said City of South San Francisco has no use, and will have no use, for the building located on ]and hereinafter mentioned, and that public necessity requires that said building should be removed from said land and that said building should be sold in order that it may be removed from said land. Said building is designated as follows: AC' x 192' wood frame building formerly used as a shop building, located at the northerly end of Belair Island on property owned by the City of South San Francisco, which building is located on the land situate in the City of South San Francisco, County of San Mateo, State of California, and acquired from the United States of America by an instrument dated the 25rd day of November, 1949, which instrument was recorded in the office of the County Recorder of the County of San Mateo, California, on the 9th day of December, .1949, in Volume 1758 of Official Records at page 294. In said resolution, said city council determined that it is necessary to remove said building from said land in order that said city may const~,.~ct a sewage disposal plant on said land Rnd that said building should be sold in order that it may be removed from said land. In said resolution, said city council fixed the time a~d pi. ace for hearing orotests to the proposed sale of said building, on October 16, 1950, at the hour of 8 o'clock p. m., in the council chamber of said city council in the city hall. AND, I~EREAS said resolution was published by two (2) successive insertions in the South San Francisco Enterprise-Journal, a weekly newspaper published and circulated in the said City of South San Francisco. AND, ~FAS a notice entitled: "~,~OTICE OF INTt~,fTION OF CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH S&N FRANCISCO TO SELL A BUILDING LOCATED ON THE LAND SITUATE IN THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRAS;CISCO AND ACQUIRED FROM TUE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", which notice contained a description of said build- ing and fixed October 16, 1950, at the hour of 8 o'clock p. m., in the council chamber of the city hall of said City of South San Francisco as the time and place when any interested person may pro- test the proposed sale of said building. AND, ¥~EREAS no person has prote~ted aKainst the Sale of said building. NOW, THEREFORE, said city council hereby orders that said building be sold. The city clerk is hereby directed to publish by two (2) successive insertions in the South San Francisco Enterprise-Journal, a weekly newspaper published and circulated in the City of South San Francisco, Ta'notice in substantially the following form: NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS FOR THE PURCHAS. E OF THE BUILDING LOCATED ON LAND SITUATE IN THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO AND ACQUIRED BY SAID CITY FROM THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Pursuant to statute and to the resolution of the City Council of the City o.f South San Francisco directinK this notice, said city council hereby invites sealed proposals or bids for the purchase of the buildins hereinafter mentioned. Said building is a BO' x 192' wood frame build- ing formerly used as a shop building, located at the northerly end of Belair Island and is located on the land ac~ired by said City of South San Francisco from the United States of America, by an instalment dated the 23rd day of November, 19&9, which instrument was recorded in the office of the County Recorder of the County of San Mateo, California, on the 9th day of December, 19A9, in Volume 1758 of Official Records at page 29A. Sealed proposals for the purchase of said building shall be delivered to the city clerk of said city on or before 8 o'clock p. m. on Monday, the 6th day of November, 1950. All sealed proposals must be accompanied by a certified check, payable to said City of South San Francisco in an amount not less than TEN PERC~T (10%) of the amount bid. In the event of the failure of the successful bidder to pay the full amount of the bid not later than TEN (10) days followin~ the date on which said city council may award the contract for the purchase of said building, the amount of such check shall be deemed to be liquidated damages for such failure and shall be retained as such by said city. Ail sealed proposals will be opened by said city council in public session on Monday, the 6th day of November,.at the hour of 8 o'clcok p. m., at the council chamber of said city council. Said city council may award the contract for the ~rchase of said building to the bidder who may offer to pay the highest amount for said building. Said city council reserves the right to reject any and all bids. Reference is hereby made to the resolution adopted by said city council on the 16th dsy of October, 1950, in which resolution provision is made for the sale of said building.
