A RESOLUTION MAKING RECOMMENDATIONS ~TH RESPECT
TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF MUNICIPAL COURTS IN THE
COUNTY OF SAN MATEO.
WHEREAS provision has been made by law for the establishment of municipal courts in the
County of San Mateo, having civil jurisdiction up to THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($3,000.00); and
WHEREAS, by reason of the increased jurisdiction, business, heretofore cared for by thirteen
(13) city judges and five (5)'justices of the peace, will be greatly increased; and
WHEREAS it is essential to public welfare that there shall be a sufficient number of judges
to properly care for the business which will require theattention of the municipal court.
RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO that, in the opinion of
this city council, at least four (4) municipal Judges will.be necessary to adequately care for all the
business which will come within the jurisdiction of the municipal courts of San Mateo County.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, becaus~ of the central location of the City of South San Fran-
cisco in FirstTownship of said County, and because of the increasing population in the area within which
the city of South San Francisco is located, one (1) municioal court and one (1) municipal ..judge will be
necessary to serve public needs and should be assigned to the City of South San Francisco.
The Board of Supervisors, is respectfully requested to make provision for the logation of
one (1) of t~e municipal courts and one (1) municipal judge in the City of South San Francisco.
I.hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by
the City Council of the City of South San Francisco this 20th day of April, 1951, by the following vote:

Noes, Councilmen, None
Absent, Councilmen Victor Boido, Emilio Cortesi
