A RESOLUTION ORDERING TPt CONSTRUCTION OF A
MULTIPLE BOX CULVERT IN SPRUCE A'¢ENUE AT
COLMA CREEK.
RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco t hat public
interest and convenience require the following improvement work to be done in
said city:
The construction of a multiple box
culvert in Spruce Avenue at Colma Creek.
All said work shall be 6one at the location shown upon the plans and speci-
fications submitted this day by the works engineer of the City of South San Fran -
cisco for said work, which plans and specifications are hereby adopted for said
work.
All said work shall be done and the materials used in connection therewith
shall be furnished under the direction and to the satisfaction of the works en_
gineer of said city.
Said City Council of the City of South San Francisco hereby ascertains that
the general prevailing rates for legal holiday and overtime york applicable to
said work to be done ars as follows:

published and circulated in the City of South San Francisco, a notice calling for
sealed proposals or bids for doing said work, which notice shall be substantially

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that sealed proposals or bids will be received by
the City Council of the City of South San Francisco on ~onday, the 20th day of August,
1951, at the hour of 8:00 o'clock p.m.., for doing the following improvement work in
said city, to-wit:
The construction of a multiple box
culvert in Spruce Avenue at Co~hma
Creek.
All said work shall be done at the location shown upon the plans and speci-
fications for said work and strictly in accordance with ssid plans and specifications
heretofore adopted for said work.
All said work and the materials used in connection therewith shall be fur-
nished under the dire ct io~and to the satiSTaction of the works engineer of said city.
Said city council has ascertained that the general prevailing rates of per
~diem wages and the general prevailing rates for ~hegal holidays and overtime work ap-
plicable to said work to be done are as follows:

Mateo County shall apply.
It shall be mandatory upon the contractor to whom the contract is awarded,
and upon any subcontractor under hf~m, to pay not less than the specified, rates to all
laborers, workmen and mechanics employed by them in the execution of the contract.
The contractor shall forfeit as a penalty to the City of South San Frsmcisco TEN DOLLARS
($10.00) for each laborer, workman or mechanic e~ployed, for each calendar da~f, or port.ion
.thereof, such laborer, workman or mechanic is paid less than the said stipulated rates
for any work done urn. der said contract, by him, or by any subcontractor u~der him. And
such contract shall contain a stipulation to this effect, in accordance with the provis-
ions of Chapter Z97 of the Statutes of California, lO5l.
No bid will be accepted from any contractor who has not been licensed in
.accordance wibh the provisions of an act of the L6gislature of the State of California
entitled: "An act providing for the registration of contractors, and defining the term con-
tractor, providing the method of obtaining licenses to engage in the business of con-
tracting , and fixing the fees for such licenses; providing the method of suspension
and cancellation of such licenses; and prescribing the pun~isbmlent for violation of the
provisions of this act'.' Chapter 7.Ol of the Statutes and. Amendments of 1~20, as amended.
NOTICE IS FURTHER HEREBY GIVEN that no contractor or subcontractor or agent
or representative thereof shall knowingly employ or cause or allow to be employed on the
work herein provided for any alien, except in cases of extraordinary emergency caused by
fire, flood or danger to life or property.
