A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY 'COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN
FRANCISCO ORDERING THE PERFORMANCE OF ?ORK FOR THE CONSTRUCTION
OF AN 'ADDITION OR EXTENSION TO THE P~BLIC LIBHARY OF SAID CITY.
'~EREAS the City Council of the City of South San Francisco did this day approve and adopt
plans and specifications for the construction of an addition or extension to the public library
of said city; and
'~HERE.~S said city council did also this day determine and establish a wage scale for the
performance of such work,
NOW, THEHEFORE, BE IT .RESOLVED by said city council that public interest and convenience
require the perforamnce of such work and said city council hereby orders that the work and im-
provement, as set forthe and described in said plans and spe.,ifications, be done and made. Said
city council does further order that all said work and improvement will be done under the direction
of LOUIS BALDINI, a duly qualified and licensed architect who has been engaged by said city to
prepare the plans and specifications for~he perl'ormsnce of said work and to supervise the same,
and that the materials used in connecti.on therewith shall comply with ~he specifications and be
to the satisfaction of said architect.
BE IT M~THER RESOLVED by said city council that the city clerk of the City of South San
Francisco is hereby directed to publish, by two smecessive insertions in the SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO
JOURNAL - ENTERPRISE, a weekly newspaper published and circulated in said city, a notice inviting
sealed proposals or bids for the construction of said improvements, and referring to the plans
and specifications on file in the office of said city clerk, the first of whieh publications shall
be at least ten (10) days prior to the time fixed for opening bids.
All proposals or bids shall be accompahied by a certified check payable to the order of said
city, amounting to ten(lC) percent of the bid, or by a bond in said amount and payable to said city,
signed by a corporate surety or by the bidder and two sureties who shall justify before any officer
competent to administer an oath, in double said amount and over and above all statutory exemptions.
Said check shall be forfeited or said bond shall become payable to said ~ity in case the lowest
responsible bidder depositing the same does not, within the time spedified in said plans and specifications,
enter into a contract with the City of South San Francisco, the faithful performance of which
shall be assured by an undertaking in the amount of fifty (50) percent oI' the amount so bid, with
sureties satisfactory to this city council, and which shall be accomps~ed by a labor and materials
bond in a s~un equal to fifty(50) percent of the amo~nt e§ said bid, pursuant to the 'provisions of
Title l, Division 5, Chap%er 3 of the Government Code.
Said sealed proposals or bids shall be delivered to the city clerk of this city on or before
eight o'clock p.m. of the 22nd day of October, 1~952, in the co,ln~.il chambers of said city council
of the City of South San Francisco at the city hall on Grand Avenue in said city, said time being
not less than ten (lO) days from the time of the first publication of said notice. Bids will be
publi~.ly opened, examined, and de..lared st said time ~nd place.
The mayor is hereby authorized to execute on befall' of said -ity a contract for the performance
of the work herein contemplated, a nd the city clerk is hereby directed to attest to the signature of
the mayor and to affix to said contra~t the norporate seal of the City of South San Fran~.isco.

City Council of the City of South San Francisco this 6th day of October, 1952, by the following
vote:
