P~SOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO
DECLAHING FRIDAY, THE 2~TH DAY OF 0C?OBE~, 1952,T0 BE "UNITED NATIONS
DAY" IN SAID CITY OF SOUTH SAN F~(ANCISCO.
~HEHEAS, the 2~th day of October, 1952, marks the seventh anniversary of the organization of
the United Nations; and
!'~EREAS, throughout the world people are Joining in celebrating this anniversary by a~firming
their confidence in the United Nations and in its objectives; and
~S, our best hope ~'or peace and ! reedom lies in a united understanding and cooperation bet-
ween nations,
NO?, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that sai~
city council does hereby de~.lare that Friday, the 2Ath day of October~ 1952, shall be officially set
aside as "United Nations Day" in said city. Further, said city council does hereby urge each and every
citizen to give thought and prayer to the strengthening of the United Nations. Also, said city council
does hereby urge all freedom-loving people in the co~aunity to celebrate this day by public meetiu, gs in
the schools, clubs, and churches so that the principles of the United Nations may again be brought to the
recognition of everyone.
BE IT ~;RTH~ P~ESOLVED that this resolution shall serve as documentary evidence that said city council
and all residents of the City of South San Francisco, as American citizens, are proud of the record of th~
United Nations and welcomethis opportunity to restate their confidence in the United Nations program and
to acknowledge that the United NatiOns, working with its member co-ntries, is the best hope for peace and
freedom throughout the world.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all citizens be requested to Join in prayer on said day to ask God for
guidance for the officials of the United Nations Organization and for continued strength and success in
their efforts to achieve world peace.
I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly ~nd regularly adopted by the City Council
of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting thereof held on the 20th day of October, 1952,
by the following vote:
Ayes, Councilmen John Noonan, Adolph Sani, Emilio Cortesi, Joseph Bracco, Telford Smith
Noes, Councilmen None
Absent, Councilmen None
