A RESOLUTION ORDEHING THE PERFORMANCE OF WORK
FOR THE REPAIR OF A PORTION OF BAYSHORE BOULF~
VARD IN THE CITY OF SOI~H SAN FRANCISCO UNDER
THE MAJCR STFuEET REPAIR PROGRAM, AND CALLING
FOR BIDS FOR THE PERFORMANCE OF SUCH WORK.
WHEREAS the City Council of the CitFi of South San Francisco did this day approve and adopt
plans and specifications for the repair of a portion of Bayshore Boulefard, between Baden Avenue
and Juniper Avenue, in said City of South San Francisco, said Bayshore Boulevard having been here-
tofore designated as a "major street", L~d whereas said plans and specifications are on file with
the City Clerk of said city; and
~HEREAS said City Council did also this day determine and establish a wage scale for the per-
formance of such work.
NO;~, THK~EFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by said City Council that public interest and convenience re-
quire the performance of such work and said City Council hereby orders that the work and improve-
men~ as set forth and described in said plans and specifications, be done and made. Said City Council
does further order that all said work and improvement will be done under the direction of C. E. ~ANDLETT,
Works Engineer of the City of South San Francisco, and that the materials used in connection there-
with shall comply with the specifications and be to the satisfaction of said Works Engineer.
BE IT FURTHE~ RESOLVED by said City Council that the City Clerk of the City of South San Francisco
is hereby directed to publish, by two successive insertions in the SOUTH SAN F~ANqISCO ENTERPHISE-JOUHNAL,
a weekly newspaper published and circulated in said city, a notice inviting sealed proposals or bids
for the construction of said improvements, and referring to the plans and specifications on file in the
office of said City Clerk, the first of which publication shall be at least ten (10) days prior to the
time fixed for opening bids.
All proposals or bids shall be accompanied by a certified check payable to the order of said ~ty,
amounting to ten (10) percent of the bid, or by a bond in sA~ amount and payable to said city, signed
by a corporate surety or by the bidder and two sureties who shall Justify before any officer competent
to administer an oath, in double said amount and over and above all statutory exemptions. Said check
shall be forfeited or said bond shall become payable to said city in case the lowest responsible bidder
depositing the same does not, within the time specified in said plans and specifications enter into a
contract with the Works Engineer of the City of South San Francisco, the faithful performance Of which
shall be assured by an undertaking in the amount o~' I'ifty ~50) percent of the amount s~ bid, with sure-
ties satisfactory to this City Council, and which shall be accompanied by a labor and material bond in
a sum equal to fifty (50) percent of the amount o?' said bid, under the provisions of Title 1, Division
5, Chapter 3 of the Govermment Code.
Said sealed proposals or bida shall be delivered to the City Clerk of this city on or before four-
thirty o'clock p.m. of the 2th day of March, 1953, in the council chambers of said City Council of the
City of South San Francisco at the city hall on Grand Avenue in said city, said time being not less than
ten (10) days form the time of the first ~_~blication of s&id notice. Bids will be publicly opened, examired,
and declared at said time and place.
I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City
Council of the City of South San Francisco, this 16th day of February, 1953, by the following vote:
