A RESOLUTION ORDERING THE PP'~RFORMANCE OF ~ORK FCR
THE REPAIR OF A PORTION OF "B" STREET LYING BET-
WEEN ORANGE AVENUE SOUTH AND SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO HIGH
SCHO~ PROPERTY, TOGETHER WITH THE CONSTRUCTION OF
P~BLIC IMPROVEMENTS THEREON, ~DER THE MAJOR STREET
REPAIR PROGRAM AND CALLING FOR BIDS FOR THE P~2RFOHMANCE
OF SUCH ~)RK.
.WHF2iEAS the City Council of the City of South San Francisco did this day approve and adopt
plans and specifi~cations for the r~pair of that portion of "B" Street lying between Orange Ave-
nue South ~m~ South San Francisco High School, in the said City of South San Francisco, said "B"
Street having been heretofore designated as a "major street", and whereas said plans and speci-
fications are on file with City Clerk oI' said city; and
WHEREAS said City Council did also this day determine and establish a wage scal for the per-
formance of such work,
NO,V, THEREFORE, BE IT R~SOLVED by said City Council that public interest and convenience require
the performance of such work and said City Council hereby orders that the work and improvement, as set
forth and described in said plans and specifications, be done, and made. Said City Council does further
order that all said work and improvement will be done under the direction of C. E. RANDLETT, Works
Engineer of the City of South San Francisco, and that the materials used in connection therewith ah~ll
comply with the specifications and be to the satisfaction of said Works Engineer.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by said City Council that the. City Clerk of the City of South San Francisco
is hereby directed to publish, by two successive insertions in the SOUTHSAN FRANCISCO ENTERPRISE - JOURNAL,
a weekly newspaper published and circulated in said city, a notice inviting sealed proposals or bids for
the construction of said improvements, and referring to the plans and specification on file in the office
of said City Clerk, the first of which publication shall be at least ten (10) days prior to the time fixed
for opening bids.
Ail proposals or bids shall be accompanied by a certified check payable to the order of said city,
amounting to ten (10) percent of the bid, or by a bond in said amount and payabl~ to said city, Signed
by a corporate surety or by the bidder and two sureties who shall justify before any officer competent
to administer an oath, in doublesaid amount and over and above all statutory exemptions, Said check
shall be forfeited or said bond shall become payable to said city in case the lowest responsible bidder
depositing the same does not, within the time specil'ied in siad plans and specifications enter into a
contract with the Works Engineer of the City oi' South San Francisco, the faithful performance of which
shall be assured by an undertaking in the amount of fifty (50) percent of the amm~nt so bid, with sureties
satisfactory to this Oity Council, and which shall be accompanied by a labor and material bond in a sum equal
to fifty (50) percent of the amount of said bid, under the provisions of Title 1, Division 5, Chapter 3
the Government Code.
Said sealed proposals or bids shall be delivered to the City Clerk of this city on or before &:30 p.m.
of the &th day of March, 1953, in the coune~tl chambers of said City Council of the City o~' South San Fran-
cisco at the city hall on Granch Avenue in said city, said time being not lesa than ten (10) days from the
time of the first publication of said notice. Bids willms publicly opened, .xamined, and declared at said
time and place.
I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City
Council of the City of South San Francisco, this 16th day of February, 1953, by the following vote:
Ayes, Councilmen John Noonan, Adolph Sani, Emilio Cortesi, Joseph Bracco, Telford Smith
