RESOLUTION NO. 1895
RESOLUTION DIRECTING PUBLICATION OF NOTICE I~;ITING
SEALED PROPOSALS AND FIXING DATE OF HEAHING T~!EREON
FOR I~G~ROV~E~ OF SECO~ L~NE FROM CHESTNUT AVENUE
TO EUCALYPTUS AVENUE.
RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco, California,
that
~.~EREAS the said City Council, on the &th day of May, 1953, did adopt Resolution
of Intention No. 1881, to order the construction of storm drains, gutters, catch-
basins, manholes, and pavement along Second Lane from Chestnut Avenue to Eucalyptus
Avenue, reference to which resolution of intention is hereby made for futher particulars;
NOW, TH~EFOHE, the city clerk of the City of South San Francisco is hereby
directed to publish, by two (2) successive insertions in the SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO
~T~PRISE-JOU~AL, a weekly newspaper published and circulated in said city, a
notice inviting sealed proposals or bids ~f~ the consturction of said improvements,
and referring to the plans and specifications on file in the office of said clerk,
the first of w~,ich publications shall be at least ten (10) days prior to the time
fixed for opening bids.
All proposals or bids shall be accompanied by a certified check payable to the
order of ~a~i~ city, amounting to ten percent (10%) of the bid, or by a bond in s~id
amount andpayable to said city, signed by a corporate surety or by the bidder and
two sureties who shall justify before any officer competent to administer an oath,
in double said amount and over and above all statutory exemptions. Said check shall
be forfeited or said bond shall become payable to said city in case the lowest res-
ponsible bidder depositing the same does not, within the time specified by law,
enter into a contract with the wor'~s engineer of said city, the faithful performance
of which shall be assured by an undertaking in the amount of Fifty Percent (50%)
of tbs amount so bid, with sureties satisfactory to said City Council and which
shall be accompanied by a labor and material bond in a sum equal to fifty percent
(50%) of the amount of said bid, under the provisions of Title I, Division 5,
Chapter 3 of the Government Code.
Sealed bids or proposals will be received by the City Council of the City
of South San Francisco at the office of the city clerk of said city, City Hall,
Grand Avenue, South S~n Francisco, California, or at the Council Chambers of said
~ity at said location at any time on or before 8:00 p.m. on Monday, the 6th day of
July, 1953, said time being not less than ten (lO) days from the tim~ of the first
publication of said notice. Bids will be publicly opened, examined, and declared
at said time and place.

I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly adopted by
the City Council of the ~ity of South San Francisco at a regular meeting
thereof on the 1st day of June, 1953, by the following vote:
