A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO DECLARING ITS INTENT-
ION TO DO CERTAIN PUBLIC IMPROVF~4ENT WORK IN
THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO ON VICTORY A'VE-
NUEo ~.
WHEREAS public interest and convenience require that work and improve-
ments hereinafter described should be done; and ~
WHEREAS, in the epin~m of the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco, said contemplated work and improvement is, and is hereby declared, to
be of more than local or ordinary publ~ic benefit; and
WHEREAS an estimate of the cost and expense of said work has been filed
with the city clerk of said city; .
NOW, THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco that it is the intention of said City Council to order the following
work and improvements to be done in said city, ~to-wit:
The bringing to grade and widening of Victory
Avenue between ~inden Avenue and Maple Avenue
so that there shall be a driving surface of
40 feet in width; the installation of concrete
curbs, gutters, and a sidewalk 5 feet wide;
surfacting of the street with a-6. inch rock
base, and paving the same with a 2 1/2 inch
black top; the installation of a storm draina~ge
system with necessary catch basihs, and an 1S
inch pipe running up Victory Avenue to the 1Qw
point, to be followed by 30 inch pipe line tQ
the east side of the Southern Pacific raitroad
tracks.
Ail the work provided for shall be done in ac'cordance with the special
plans, profiles, and specifications for said work, and at the locations and to
the grades shown upon said plans, which plans, profiles and specifications were
adopted by said City Council on the llth day of January, 1954, and are now on
file in the office of the city clerk of said city.
R~ference is hereby made to said plans, profiles and specifications
for a full description of said work and for the location and. the extent of
the work to be done hereunder and for the grades at which said work is to be
done, and for a particular description of the boundaries of the district here-
in mentioned. Said City Council does hereby determine and declare that said
proposed work and impbovement is of more than local or ordinary public bene-
fit and will affect and benefit the l~nds and district hereinafter described,.
which said district is hereby declared to be the district' benefited by said
work and improvements and that, therefore, the entire cost and expense of
said work and improvement shall be, and hereby ~re, made chargeable against,
and shall be assessed upon, said lands and. district, except as hereinafter
expressly provided, which district is within the City of South San Francisco,
County of San Mateo, State of California, and particularly described as fel-
lows, to-wit:
BEGINNING at the ~oint of intersection of
the southerly line of the San Francisco Drive-In
Theatres Corporation property with the easterly
line of Spruce ~venue, which point is the south-
easterly corner of the parcel of land described in the
deed to the City of South San Francisco recorded
under file number 93764J in the San Marco County
recorders office; thence along said southerly line
of the San Francisco Drive-In Theatres Corporation
property South 74° 27' East 656.08 feet; thence
North 15e 33' East 329.85 feet to the northwesterly
corner of the lands of Hawley; thence south 74-
· 27' East 450 feet to the eastsrly line of South
MaPle Avenue; thence South 15 33' West 37.56 feet
~ to the northwesterly' corner'of the lands of Saracco
described in the ~eed recorded under file No. 474311
San Marco County records; thence South 74° 2.7'

feet to the northeasterly corner of lands of Holmes
Equipment Corporation; thence South 74° 27 East
243 feet to the wesla~ly li~e ef L~mden Avenue;
thence continuing South 7~~ 27' East 340 feet more
or less to the easterly line of the Southern Pacific
Railroad Company right of wa~; thence southerly
along said easterly right of way line 360 feet~ more
or less to a point which bears South 74° 27' East
from the southeasterly corner of the Standard Oil
Company property; thence North 74° 27' West 320
feet more or less to the westerly line of Linden
Avenue; thence along said westerly line of Linden
Avenue South 15° 33' West 240 feet more or less
to the northeasterly corner of lands of Reichold
Chemical Corporation; thence along the northerly and
westerly lines of lands of Reichold Chemical
Corporation North.?4e 27' West 633 feet and South
15° ~33' West ~82.8b feet; thence northwesterly 1220
feet, more or less, %0 the point on the northerly
boundary of the Lindenville War Housing .Project which
bears South 15° 33' West from the point of beginning;
thence. North 15° 33' East 600 feet, more or less,
to the point of beginning.
Excepting all public streets, avenues, thoroughfares, courts, lanes,
and alleys included and contained in said district.
Notice is hereby given that serial bonds to represent unpaid assessments,
and to bear interest at the rate of five (5)- Percent annum, will be issued here-
under in the manner provided by Division l0 of the Streets and Highways Code, in
the Improvement Bond Act of 1915, and the last installment of such bonds shall
mature fourteen (l~) years from the 2nd day of July next succeeding ten (10)
months from their date.
The South San Francisco Enterprise-Journal, a newspapen of general
circulation, printed and published in said City of South San Francisco, is here-
by designated as the newspaper in which this resolution of intention shall be
published, and the city clerk is hereby directed to cause this resolution to
be published by two (2) insertions in the manner and form required by law.
Said city clerk is also directed to mail a notice of the adoption of
said resolution of intention, postage prepaid, to all persons owning property
which is oroposed to be assessed to pay any part of the cost of said work,
whose names and addresses appear on that last equalized assessment roll, or as
known to said city clerk.
The Director of Public Works shall cause to be conspicuously posted
along the line of said contemplated work or improvement, and not .mere than three
hundred (300) feet in distance'apart; but not less than three (3) in all, and
along all the open streets within said district at not more than three hundred
(300) feet in distance apart onmch said street, notices of the passage of
this resolution of intention, in the manner and form required by the Improvement
Act of 1911.
Notice is hereby given that on Monday, the 15th day ef February, 195~,
at the hour of 8:00 o'clock p.m., in the Council Chamber of said City Council
of the City of South San Francisco, any and all persons having any objections
to the proposed work and improvements may appear before said city council and
show cause why said proposed work and improvement should not be earried out in
accordance with this resolution.
Except as hereinbefore provided, all of the herein proposed work shall
be done pursuant to an act of the legislature of the StaDe of Californ~ designated
as "Improvement Act of 1911".
I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly intro-
duced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San F~isce,
California, at a special meeting thereof held on the llth day of January, 195~,
by the following vote:
Ayes, CQuncilmen Adolph Sani, Emilio Cortesi, Joseph Bracce.
Noes, Councilmen John Noonan, Telford Smith.
