INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS AND FIXING DATE OF
HEARING THEREON FOR IMPROVEI~ENT OF VICTORY
AVENUE BETWEEN LINDEN AVENUE AND MAPLE AVENUE.
RESOLVED by ~he City Council of the City of South San Francisco, California,
that
WHEREAS the said Cit- Council, on the llth day oT January, 1954, did adopt
Resolution of Intention No. 1966 to order t he improvement of Victory Avenue between
Linden Avenue and Maple Avenue, reference to which resolution of intention is hereby
made for further particulars;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Clerk of the City of South San Francisco is hereby
directed to publish, by two (2) successive insertions in the SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO EN-
TERPRISE-JOURNAL, A weekly newspaper published and circulated in said city, a notice
inviting sealed proposals or bids for the construction of said improvements, a nd re-
ferring to the plans and specifications on file in the office of said clerk, the first
of which publications shall be at least ten (10) days prior to the time fixed for open-
ing bids. ,
All proposals or bida shall be accompanied by a certified check payable to the
order of said city, amounting to ten percent (10%) of the bid, or by a bond in said
amount and payable to said city, signed by a corporate surety or by the bidder and
two sureties who shall justify before any officer competent to administer an oath,
in double said amount and over and above all stautory exemptions, Said check
shall be forfeited or said bond shall become payable to said city in case the lowest
responsible bidder depositing the does not, within the time specified by law, enter
into a contract with the director of nublic works of said city, the faithful per-
formance of' which shall be assured by an undertaking in the amount of fifty percent
(50%) of the amount so bid, with sureties satisfactory to said city council and which
shall be accompanied by a labor and material bond in a sum equal to fifty percent
(50%) of the amount of said bid, under the provisions of Title I, Division 5, Chapter
3 of the Government Code.
Sealed bids or proposals will be received by the City .Council of the City of
South San Francisco at the office of the city clerk of said city, City Hall, Grand
Avenue, South San Francisco, California, or at the council chambers of said location
at any time on or before 8:00 p.m. on Monday, the 15th day of February, 195~, said
time being not less than ten (10) days from the time of the first publication of
said notice. Bids will be publicly opened, examined, and declared at said time and
place.
