RESOLUTION DIRECTING PUBLICATION OF NOTIDE INVITING
SEALED PROPOSALS AND FIXING DATE OF HEARING THEREON
FOR IMPROVEMENT OF THAT PORTION OF TH~ INDUSTRIAL
AREA OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRanCISCO LYING,
GENERALLY SPEAKING, IN THE VICINITY OF FREE~.~TAY STRE~T
6 AND SSUTH AIRPORT BOULEVARD.
RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of ~outh San Fran-
cisco, State of California, that
Whereas the said City Council, on the 30th day of
August, 1954, did adopt Resolution of Intention No. 2__~q~
to order the improvement of that portion of the industrial
area lying, generally speaking, in the vicinity of Ereeway Street and
South Airport Boulevard, reference to which resolution of intention
is hereby made for further particulars;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE City Clerk of She~'City of ~outh San
Francisco is hereby directsd to publish, by tWo(2) successive
insertions in the SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO ENTeRPRISE-JOURNAL, A '~EEKLY
newspaper published and circulated in said city, a notice inviting
sealed proposals or bids f~r the construction of said improvements,
and referring to the plans and specifications of file in the office
of said Clerk, the first of which publication shall ~e at least
,fixed
ten (lC) days prior to the time/for opening bids.
All proposals or bids shall be ac~ompanied by a certified
check payable to the order if said city, amounting to ten percent
(10%) of the bid,or by a bond in said amount and payable to said
city, signed by a corporate surety or by the bidder and two sureties
who shall justify before any officer competent to administer an
oath, in double said amount and over and above all statutory
exemptions. Said check shall be forfeited or said bond shall become
payable to said city in case the lowest respons±ble bidder depositing
the same does not, within the time specified By law, enter into a
contract with the Director of Public Works of sai~ city, the faith-
ful performance of which shall be assured by an under~mkin~nin the
- amount of fifty percent(50%~ of the amount so bid, with sureties
satisfactory to said City Council and which shall be accompanied
by a labor and material bond in a sum equal to fift$ percent(50%)
of the amount of said bi~,under the provisions of Title 1,Division
5, Chapter 3, of She ~ovez~ment ~ode.
Sealed bids or proposals will be received by Louis H.
Goss, Director of Public Works of said City, who is hereby appointed
for that purpose, the same to be submitted to h~m at his office in
the City Hall of said Cit~, Grand Avenue, South San Francisco, Cali-
fornia, at any time o~ or before 3:00 o'clock P.M. om Monday,the
20th d~y of September,1954, said time being not less than ten(10)
days from the time of the first publication of said notice, Bids will
be publicly opened, examimmd, and declared at said time and place,by
said Director of Public ~'orks, who will then prepare a written report
with respect to said bids and submit the same to said City Council
at its regular meeting at 8:00 o'cldck P.M. on said 20th day of
September,1954 'for its consideration in connection with the award of
bids.
