A RESOLUTION OF THE CI~ COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SdUTH SAN FRANCISCO
APPHOVING PRELIMINARY PLANS F0H FUTURE GRADE SEPAR~IONS~'~ALONG
JUNIPER0 SERRA BOULEVARD.
WPEEREA~ the Director of Public Works of the City of South Ean Francisco has
recommended that, because Junipero Serra Boulevard, a portion of which lies within the City
of South San Francisco, should be designed and maintained as a freeway for the movement of
motor vehicular traffic, proper grade separations should be constructed and maintained along
the route of said boulevard so that vehicular traffic may enter and leave said boulevard
with safety and with a minimum of interference with the flow of traffic along said boulevard
and also so that there will be protection for pedestrians crossing said boulevard; and
WHEREAS said Director of Public ~orks has prepared preliminary plans with respect
of the installation of grade separations near the intersection of Carmelita Avenue and
Junipero Eerra Boulevard and the intersection of Arroyo Drive and Junipero Serra Boulevard,
within the City of South San Francisco; and
WHEHEAS the City Council o.~ said City deems it advisable, as being in the best
interests of the public and for its general welfare, that grade separations should be
established as recon~aended by the Director of Public ?~orks of said City,
N0~J; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by said City Council that the recommendation of
the Director of public Works be, and it hereby is, accepted. Further, the preliminary plans
as prepared and submitted by said Director of Public Works, which are now on f~le in the
office of theCity Clerk of saidCity, are hereby accepted' and~approved.
BE IT FURT!tER REBOLVED that the City Clerk be, and he hereby is, instructed to
forward a certified copy of this resnlution, together with two sets of the aforementioned
plans, as prepared by the Director of Public Works, to the Directors of Joint Highway
District No. 10, the p~olic body having direction and control of said Junipero 2erra Boulevard.
Said plans are subn~tted by the City of South San Francisco as a contribution towards
improving the safety aspects of said Junipero Serra Boulevard as a public thoroughfare and
freeway and facilitating the free anduninterrupted flow of traffic thereon.
I hereby certify that the foregoi~ resolution was regularly introduced and adopted
by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at an adjourned regular meet_~ng held
on the 2~th day of March, 1955, by the following vote:
AYES, Councilmen:
Andrew Rocca, Frsncis Lucchio, Emilio Cortesi, Richard Gamlen and
Telford Smith.
