RESOLUTION APPROVING TERMS OF PETITION FOR FORMATION OF PARKING
DISTRICT NO. 1955-1 IN THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO
WHEREAS, there has been prepared and submitted to this City Council for approval
petitions for the acquisition and improvement of certain public parking places within the City
of South San Francisco, designated as Parking District No. 1955-1, all of which properties
are therein more particularly described and the original of which petition has been signed and
marked filed with the city clerk of the City of South San Francisco on the 7th day of April,
1955; and,
WHEREAS, it is proposed by said petition that proceedings for the acquisition and
improvement of said parking places be conducted pursuant to the Parking District Act of 1951
of the State of California, Section 7 of wh~h provides that, if the petition proposes a
contribution of money by the City, the legislative body either shall reject the petition or shall
agree to make the contribution specifidd and that if the petition proposes that the City
continue to maintain parking meters on public'streets within the district, the legislative
body either shall reject the petition or shall agree to maintain theparking meters as proposed;
and,
WHEREAS, the original petition filed with the City Clerk of the City of South San
Francisco on the 7th day of April, 1955, contains said conditons of the amount of contribution
to be made by the City and the description of the streets or ways on which meters are prpposed
to be maintained;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco
as follows:
A. That the petition hereinabove referred to is by this reference incorporated
herein and made a part of this resolution, and reference is hereby made to said petition for all
of the ter~s and conditions thereof.
B. That the public interest, convenience and necessity require that parking meters
be installed and maintained and any presently existing parking meters already installed continue
to be maintained on the streets designated and as proposed in the said petition.
C. That the City Council of the City of South San Francisco hereby agrees to make the
contributions of money set forthand provided for in said petition and agrees to install and
maintain or continue to maintain the parking meters as proposed in said petition.
D. The City Engineer of the City of South San Francisco is hereby directed to make
and file with this City Council a report, which report shall show the following:
(1) An estimate of the Cost of the acquisitions and improvements proposed by the
petition and of the incidental expenses in connection therewith and of the proceedings
therefor.
(2) An estimate of the annual revenues which can be expected to be derived from the
pperation of the proposed parking places, and of the annual expenses of operating
and maintaining the parking places exclusive of principal and interest on the bonds
to beissued.
(3) An estimate of the annual net revenues which can be expected to be derived
from the parking meters, the revenues from which are by the petition proposed to
be pledged to pay the principal and interest of the bonds.
(4) The total assessed value of the real property within the proposed district as
shown on the last equalized assessment ro11.
E. That for the purpose of estimating the cost of the acquisitions proposed by the
petition, said City Engineer be and he is hereby authorized and directed at the expenses of the
City of South San Francisco to obtain from North San Mateo County Board of Realtors
an appraisal or determination of the present fair Market value of parking lots "A", "B", "C",
"D", "E", and "F"'and public ways No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 proposed by the petition to be
acquired.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolut&n was regularly and duly adopted by
the City Council of the City of South San Francisco, San Mateo County, California, at a
regular meeting thereof, ~held on the 25th day of April, 1955, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: COUNCILMEN: A. Rocca, F. Lucchio, E. Cortesi, R. Gamlen, and Telford Smith.
