A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH
SAN FRANCISCO PROPOSING A RESOLUTION OF INTENTION TO
PERFORM STREET IMPROVEMENT WORK ON MISSION ROAD AND
CHESTNUT AVENUE TO BE SUBMITTED TO THE BOARD OF
SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF SAN MATEO
WHEREAS the City Council of the City of South San Francisco contemplates adopting
plans and specifications for the improvement of Mission Road between Chestnut Avenue and the
northern limits of the City of South San Francisco and the improvement of Chestnut Avenue
from Commercial Avenue to E1Camino Real, in said City; and
WHEREAS a portion of the land is situate outside of the City of South San Francisco
but is situate in the County of San Mateo and contiguous to said City of South San Francisco; I
WHEREAS the district to be benefited by the improvement of said streets, which
district is hereinafter described, is land situate in the City of South San Francisco and land
situate in the County of San Mateo but not in the City of South San Francisco, and said City
Council does hereby propose to assess a portion of the cost of said improvement upon the land
which is situate in the County of San Mateo but not situate in the City of South San Francisco
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisc,
that said City Council requests the consent of the Board of Supervisors of the County of San
Mateo for permission to assess land situate in the County of San Mateo but outside of the City
of South San Francisco. The City Council does hereby propose a Resolution of Intention for
said work in the form hereinafter set forth, which form of Resolution of Intention shall be
submitted to said Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo. The following is the form
of Resolution of Intention which said City Council of the City of South San Francisco proposes
to adopt:

FRANCISCO DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO DO CERTAIN PUBLIC
IMPROVEMENT WORK IN THE CIT/ OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO ON
MISSION ROAD AND CHESTNUT AVENUE.
WHEREAS public interest and convenience require that work and improvements here-
inafter described should be done; and
WHEREAS, in the opinion of the City Council of the City of South San Francisco, said
contemplated work and improvement are, and are hereby declared to be, of more than local or
ordinanry public benefit; and
WHEREAS an estimate of the cost and expense of said work has been filed with the
City Clerk of said City;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisc
that it is the intention of said City Council to order the following work and improvements to
be done in said City, to wit:
The bringing to grade and widening of Mission Road between Chestnut Avenue and the
northern limits of the City of South San Francisco so that there shall be a d~iving surface of
forty-eight (48) feet in width; the installation of concrete curbs,
feet wide from the intersection of Evergreen Drive to the intersecttm of said road with
Chestnut Avenue; surfacing of the street with a six (6)-inch rock base, and paving the same wi
a two (2)-inch black top over the existing pavement, and a three (3)-inch black top over the
widened portions; the installation of all necessary catch basins; the installation of a
bridge extension at the interseclton of said road with Oak Avenue. The bringing to grade and
widening of Chestnut Avenue from Commercial Avenue to E1Camino Real so that there shall be
a driving surface of forty-eight (48) feet in width; the installation of concrete curbs,
gutters, and, on the northwesterly side of said street, a sidewalk five (5) feet wide;
surfacing of the street with a six (6)-inch crush-rock base and paving the same with a two (2)
inch black top over the existing pavement and a three (3)-inch black top over the widened.:

Reference is hereby made to said plans, profiles, and specifications for a full
description of said work and for the location and the extent of the work to be done hereunder
and for the grades at which said work is to be done, and for a particular description of the
boundaries of the district herein mentioned. Said City Council does hereby determine and
declare that said proposed work and improvement are of more than local or ordinary public
benefit and will affect and benefit the lands and district hereinafter described, which said.

PARCEL I
All that certain land situate in the City of South San Francisco, County of San
Mateo, State of California, more particularly described as follows:
Beginning at a point on the southeasterly line of Evergreen Drive, said point
being the intersection of the northerly property line of Lot, 1, Block 1, with the southeaster
line of Evergreen Drive, as said Block is designated on the map entitled "Sunshine Gardens No.
South San Francisco, California, California", which map was filed in the office of the Recorde
of the County of San Mateo, State of California on October 31, 1952, in Book 35 of Maps at
page 49; thence from said point of beginning southeasterly along the northerly property lines
of Lots i through 6; thence southeasterly to the most northerly corner of that certain 0.092
acre parcel of Umberto and Louise Capurro as designated by the Assessor's Map No. 5 of South
San Francisco; thence along the northerly property line to the northeasterly corner of the las
said parcel; thence southeasterly along a line, parallel to and 100.00 feet distant from the
northeasterly line of Mission Road, to a point on the northwesterly property line of that
certain parcel designated as "Lands of Uccelli" and shown on the ~p entitled "Westview
Terrace, South San Francisco, San Mateo County, California', which map was filed in the office
of the Recorder of the County of San Mateo, State of California on March 20, 1953 in Volume 36
of Maps at Page 36; thence northeasterly to the southwesterly corner of Block 1, Westview Terr
thence southeasterly along the southwesterly line of the aforsaid Block I and its prolongation
to the southeasterly line of Holly Avenue; thence northeasterly along the southeasterly line
of Holly Avenue to a point 250.00 feet distant from the northeasterly property line of
Mission Road; thence from said point along a line at a right angle to the aforesaid Holly
Avenue to a point on the northwesterly boundary of the "Regli Tract", South San Francisco,
California", and which is shown a map filed in the Office of the Recorder of the County of
San Mateo, State of California on May 8, 1924 in Book 11 of Maps, Page 63; thence along the
boundary of the aforesaid Regli Tract to the northeasterly property line of Lot, 3, Block 1;
thence along the northeasterly property line of the aforesaid Lot 3 to the northerly property
line of Grand Avenue; thence southwesterly along the northerly line of Grand Avenue to a
point of intersection with the prolongation of the northeasterly property line of Lot 2,
.Block 2, of the Regli Tract; thence along the aforesaid prolongation and property line of
Lot 8, Block 2; thence northeasterly along the northerly line of the aforesaid Lot 8
to a point 100.00 feet distant from the northeasterly property line of Mission Road; thence
southeasterly along a line, parallel to and 100.00 feet distant from the northeasterly line
of Mission Road, to a point 140.00 feet distant from the southeasterly line of Oak'~: Avenue;
thence northeasterly along a line parallel to and 140.00 feet distant from the southeasterly
line of Oak Avenue to afpoint of intersection with the southerly boundary line of the
Daly Subdivision, designated on a map entitled "Daly Subdivision, South San Francisco, Calif-
ornia'', which map was filed in the Office of the Recorder of the County of San Mateo,
State of California, on May 8, 1924 in Volume 11 of Maps at Page 63; then~e~along'the

along the center line of Chestnut Avenue to a point of intersection with the southerly line
of Commercial Avenue; thence northeasterly along the southerly line of Commercial Avenue

along a line, parallel to and 190.00 feet distant from the center line of Chestnut Avenue,
to the northerly right-of-way line of the Southern Pacific Railroad; thence westerly along the

the southeasterly line of Chestnut Avenue to the southerly boundary of the City and County of
San Francisco Water Department right-of-way; thence westerly along the said right-of-way line
to the center line of Chestnut Avenue; thence southeasterly along the centerline of Chestnut
Avenue to the prolongation of the southerly boundary of the former Market Street Railway
righ~of-way to a point 190.00 feet distant from the center line of Chestnut Avenue; thence
from said point northeasterly along a course, l~rallel to and 190.00 feet distant from the
centerline of Mission Road, to a point on the southwesterly line of Mission Road, said point
also lying on the northerly right-of-way line of the Southern Pacific Railway; thence
northwesterly along the said northerly right-of-way line to the corporate limits line of the
City of South San Francisco; thence continuing along the corporate limits line northeasterly
to the southwesterly line of Mission Road, southwesterly along the boundary of Mission Road;
thence northeasterly to a point on the corporate limits line 100.00 feet distant from the
northeasterly line of Mission Road; thence from said point southeasterly along a line,
parallel to and 100.00 feet distant from the northeasterly line of Mission Road, to the north-
westerly boundary of "Sunshine Gardens No. 1"; thence southeasterly to the aforesaid point
of beginning.

PARCEL II
All that certain land situate in the County of San Mateo, State of California
more particularly described as follows:
Beginning at a point on the southwesterly line of Mission Road,- said point being
a point of intersection with the prolongation of the westerly line of that certain 13.215
acre parcel of land conveyed to Antonio Scopesi and wife by deed recorded January 9, 1936.
in Book 673 of Official Records of San Mateo County at Page 61; thence southwesterly along
the aforesaid prolongation to the northeasterly right-of-way line of the Southern Pacific
Railroad; thence southeasterly.along the said right-of-way line to the corporate limits line
of the City of South San Francisco; thence northeasterly along the corporate limits line to
the southwesterly boundary of Mission Road; thence northwesterly along the aforesaid boundary
of Mission Road to the said point of beginning.
Excepting all public streets, avenues, thoroughfares, courts, lanes, and alleys
included and contained in said district.
Notice is hereby given that serial bonds to represent unpaid assessments, and to
bear interest at the rate of five percent (5%) per annum, will be issued hereunder in the
manner provided by Division 10 of the Streets and Highways Code, in the Improvement Bond Act
of 1915, and the last installment of such bonds shall mature fourteen (14) years from the
2nd day of July next succeeding ten (10) months from their date7.
The South San Francisco Enterprise-Journal, a newspaper of general circulation,
printed and published in said City of South San Francisco, is hereby disignated as the
newspaper in which this resolltion of intention shall be published, and the City Clerk is
hereby directed to cause this resolution to be published by two (2) insertions in the manner
and form required by law.
Said City Clerk is also directed to mail a notice of the adoption of said resolution
of intention, postage prepaid, to all persons owning property which is proposed to be
assessed to pay any part of the cost of said work, whose names and addresses'appear on
the last equalized assessment ro11, or as known to said City Clerk.
The Director of Public Works, as ex-officio Superintendent of Streets, shall
cause to be conspicuously posted along the line of said contemplated work or improvement, and
not more than three hundred (300) feet in distance apart, but not less than three (3) in
a11, and along all the open streets within said district at not more than three hundred
(300) feet in distance apart on each said street, notices of the passage of this resolution
of intention, in the manner and form required by the Improvement Act of 1911.
Notice is hereby given that on , the day of ,1955,
at the hour of o'clock P.M., in the Council Chambers of said City coUncil of the City
of South San Francisco, any and all persons having any objections to the proposed work and
improvesents may appear before said City Council and show cause why said proposed work and
improvement should not be carried out in accordance with this resolution.
Except as hereinbefore provided, all the herein proposed work shall be done pursuant
to an act of the Legislature of the State of California designated as the "Improvement Act of
1911".
I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced and adopted
by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a ~. meeting

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby directed to send a copy
of this resolution to the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo with a request
that said Board of Supervisors consent to the assessment of property in the County of
San Mateo for street improvements hereinbefore designated and designated upon the plans
for said work.
I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was reKularly introduced and adopted
by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held this 2nd
day of Ray, 1955, by the following vote:
