A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO
DIRECTING PUBLICATION OF NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS, AND FIXING
DATE OF HEARING THEREON FOR INSTALLATION OF STORM DRAINS ON MISSION
ROAD FROM THE INTERSECTION OF SAID MISSION ROAD AND EVERGREEN DRIVE TO THE
INTERSECTION OF SAID MISSION ROAD AND GRAND AVENUE,
RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco, California, that
*WHEREAS the said City Council, on the 1st day of August, 1955, did adopt Resolution of
Intention No. 2192 to order the improvement of Mission Road by the ir~tallation of storm drains from
the intersection of said Mission Road and Evergreen Drive to the intersection of sald Mtsslon Road
and Grand Avenue, reference to which resolution of intention is hereby madefor further particu]~m;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Clerk of the City of South San Francisco .is hereby directed to
publish, by two (2) successive insertions in the SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO ENTERPRISE-JOURNAL, a weekly
newspaper published and circulated in said City, a notice inviting sealed proposals or bids for
the construction of said improvements, and refeering to the plans and specifications on file in the
office of said Clerk, the first of which publications shall be at least ten (10) days prior to the
time fixed for opening bids.
All proposals or bids shall be accompanied by a certified check payable to the order of
sald citY, amounting to ten percent (10~) of thebtd, or by a bond in said amount and payable to said
city, signed by a corporate surety or by the bldder and two sureties who shall Justify before any
offlcer competent to administer an oath, in double said amount and over and above all statutory
exemptions. Said chegk shall be forfeited or said bond shall become payable to maid city in case the
lowest responsible bidder depositing the same does not, within the time specified by law, enter into a
contract with the Director of Public Works of said city, the failthful performance of ~kiCh shall be
assured by an undertaking tn the amount of fifty percent (50~) of the amount so bid, with sureties
satisfactory to said City Council and which shall be accompanied by a labor and material bond in a
sum equal to fifty percent (50~) of the amount 'of said bid, under the provisions of Title I, Division
5, Chapter 3 of the'Government Code.
Sealed bids or proposals will be received by LOUIS H. GOSS, Director of Public Works of
said City, who ts hereby appointed for that purpose, the lame to be submitted to him at his office in
the City Hall of said City, Grand Avenue, South San Francisco, California, at any time on or before
3:00 o'clock P.M. on Tuesday, the 30th day of August, 1955, said time being not less than ten (10)
days from the time of the first publication of said notice. Bids will be publicly opened, examined,
and declared at said time and place, by said Director of Publlc Works, who will then prepare a written
analysis and report with respect to said bids and submit the same to said City Council at its regular
meeting at 8:00 o'cloc~ P.M. on the 6th day of' September, 1955 for its consideration in connect/on with
the award of contract.
I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly adopted by the City CoUncil of
the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting thereof on the 1st day of August, 1955, by the
following vote:
AYES, COUNCILMEN Andrew Rocca, Francis Lucchlo, Emtllo Cortest, Richard Gamlen, Telford Smith.
