A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO
IN MEMORY OF LILLIAN CAVASSA, A MEMBER OF THE PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD
OF SAID CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO.
WHEREAS it has pleased Almighty God in His infinite wisdom to remove from our midst
LILLIAN CAVASSA; and
WHEREAS Mrs. Cavassa, a native Californian, was, for fifty-one years last past, a pioneer
resident of the City of South Sau Francisco; aud
WHEREAS Mrs. Cavassa has served as a member of the Public Library Board of the City Of South
San Francisco from March 3, 1947 until the date of her untimely death; and
WHEREAS, while a member of the Public Library Board of the City of South San Francisco, said
Mrs. Cavassa served as President of the B~ard from August 3, 1953 until September l, 1955, and continued to serve

as Vice-President of said Board from the l~t day of September~ 1955 until the date of her death; and
WNEREAS Mrs. Cavassa, in addition to serving on the Public Library Board, held, at different
times, other positions of public service and trust, such as, membership on the staff of the first South San
Francisco Hospital located at Grand Avenue and Maple Avenue, and membership iu the Parent-Teacher Association in
the City of South San Francisco for many years; and
and
WHEREAS Mrs. Cavassa was the first registered nurse to serve in the City of South San Francisco;
WHEREAS Mrs. Cavassa was au active church member, a homeloviug woman, and the mother of three
well-bred daughters, a woman of sterling integrity, and an unselfish devoted citizen of the City of South San
Francisco, and otherwise an example of the best citizenship; and
WHEREAS, as a loyal, devoted and outstanding citizen, Mrs. Cavassa contributed greatly by
untiring efforts to the upbuilding and improvement of the City of South San Francisco,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that
this City Council laments the passing of Lillian Cavassa and extends its sincere sympathy, to her family in their
hour of sorrow.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be spread upon the official minutes of this City
Council and that copies thereof, together with parchment certificates of merit, be sent to the m~mbers of the
family of Lillian Cavassa.
I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution w~s regularly introduced and adopted by the
City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held ou the 19th day of December, 1955,
by the following vote:
