HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2315-1956RESOLUTION NO. 2315 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO REOUESTING REIMBURSEMENT FROM THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, OFFICE OF CIVIL DEFENSE, FOR EXPENDITURES FOR RESTORATION OF STORM DRAINAGE FACILITIES DAMAGED BY FLOOD. WHEREAS the City of South San Francisco has expended approximately the sum of Focty-five thousand, fifty four dollars ($45,054.00) to restore municipally owned storm drainage facilities and other municipally owned property recently damaged by,the flood conditions caused by excessive run-off of storm waters; and WHEREAS, because such flood damage was unanticipated and no provision therefor was made in the annual budget for said City, and because said City has no other funds available for such purpose, a serious hardship will result to said City unless it obtains reimbursement for the expenditures so made for restoration work; and WHEREAS said City has not received reimbursement for the above- mentioned expenditures from any source whatsoever, Federal, State, or otherwise; and WHEREAS, by statutory enactment, the State of California has made provision, through its Office of Civil Defense, for reimbursing municipalities and other local governments for expenses incurred as a result of floods and other disasters, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of said City that said City aha11, and it hereby does, request that the State of California, through its Office of Civil Defense, lake reimbursement to said City for the emergency expen- ditures made for restoring municipally owned storm drainage facilities and other municipally owned property damaged by floods, as aforesaid. In this connection, the City Manager is hereby directed to make, on behalf of said City, an application to the State of California, Office of Civil Defense, for reimbursement for such expenditures, as the same shall be definitely ascertained. A certified copy of this resolution shall accompany such application. I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meet- ing held this 20th day of February, 1956, by the following vote: AYES, COUNCILMEN: NOES, " : ABSENT, " : Andrew Rocca, Francis Lucchio, Emilio Cortesi, Richard Gamlen, Telford Smith.
