A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY. COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO URGING THE VETFRANS ADMINISTRATION
TO LOCATE A VETERANS' HOSPITAL FACILITY IN SAN
MATEO COUNTY
~EREAS the Veterans' Administration has appropriated One Million Dollars for the
survey, selection, and purchase of a site for a Veterans' ~iospital to be located in Northern
California; and
%~qEAS appropirations in the sum of approximately Nineteen M/llion Dollars have
been requested for the construction of such a hospital; and
1~EREAS several sites are available in San Mateo County which are suitable for
such a hospital; and
WHEREAS the location of such a hospital in San Mateo County will be of direct
benefit to the City of South San Francisco and the residents thereof,
NO~'4 THEREFORE, BE IT RF~OLVED that the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco shall, and it hereby does, strongly urge the Veterans Administration to give serious
consideration to locating its proposed hospital in San Mateo County.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be, and he hereby is, instructed to
forward copies of this resolution to Honorable J. Arthur Younger, United States Congressional
Representative from the Ninth Congressional District of the State of California, to the Board
of Supervisors of San Mateo County, to the Veterans Administration, and to the Mayors and City
Councils of the Cities in S~nMateo County.
