E~T~.rDING FROM SEPTEMBER 9TH TO SEFr~BER 13TH,
INCLUSIVE, AS "VOTER REGIST?~&TION h~EK", AKD
AUTHORIZING THE .MAYOR OF SAID CITY TO ISSUE AN
OFFICIAL PROCLAMATION IN THAT REGARD.
~.~MEREAS on the 6th day of November 1956 there will be conducted throushout the United States
of America a general, or national election, at which candidates for the office of President and Vice President
of the United States of America and for many other important offices, national, state, and local, will be '
voted upon and selected to attend to the political affairs of the people of the United States for specific
terms; and
U.~?EREAS the final day for registering for said election is, in the State of California, the
13th day of September 1956; and
~IEREAS there are a great many citizens who are not presently regisber,?d for voting at saLd
election but ~-~ho are eligible to do so; and
~EREAo it is vital to the preser~vation of our republican form of government that as many of
the citizenry as possible cast their votes at all public elections and, immediately speaking, at the national
election to be held on the 6th day of November 1956, as aforesaid,
NO2, ~IEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that
said City Council does hereby declare that the period of time extending between the 9th day of September
1956 and the 13th day of September 1956, inclusive, be officially desigmated as "Voter Registration ~.(eek"
in said City of ~outh San Francisco. In that connection, said City Comncil do~s urge all e!iMible
citizens to make certain that they are properly registered in order to be permitted to participate in the
national election scheduled for the 6th day of November 1956, as above mentioned. Further, said City Council
does, in the interests of zood government, earnestly solicit the timely registration of all those qualified,
or eligible, electors, who are not so registered to vote at said election.
BE IT FURTHER XESOLVY~ that the Mayor of said City be, and he hereby is, requested to issue
his proclamation proclaiming, for the City of South San Francisco, the period of time hereinbefore specified
as "Voter Registration ];eek".
I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the
City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held this Ath day of
September 1956, b~, the following vote:

in the City of South San Francisco.
