HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2457-1957RESOLUTION NO. 2457 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF sOuTH SAN FRANCISCO OPPOSING THE ARMY STREET CROSSING AND SUPPORTING RELOCATION OF THE SOUTH BAY CROSSING WHEREAS, engineering and financial facts now show that the proposed Army Street crossing is impractical, and WHEREAS, a earthen crossway located at or near Sierra Point will more adequately serve the Peninsula, San Francisco and in fact the whole Bay Area, and WHEREAS, a earthen crossway at or near Sierra Point would be less costly and in addition terminate near the hub of the northern part of San Mateo County providing ready servic® to San Francisco and the southern communities, and WHEREAS, said crossing would be more feasible and less susceptible to destruc- tion than a suspension bridge and therefore more dependable as an escape and service route in the event of war or other national emergencies. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco does hereby record its opposition to the proposed Army Street crossing and request that the necessary action be taken to relocate the south bay crossing at or near Sierra Point. I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regulary i~ roduced by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on this 4th day of February, 1957,.by the following vote: Ayes, Noes, Absent, Councilmen G. J. Rozzi, Emilio Cortesi, Francis Lucchio and Leo J. Ryan None Councilman Andrew Rocca City Clerk
