HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2591-1958RESOLUTION NO. 2591 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO CALLING FOR SEALED BIDS OR PROPOSALS FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF A PORTION OF A PUBLIC STREET TO BE KNOWN AS "HARBOR WA1'' AND THE IMPROVEMENT OF A PROPOSED STREET TO BE KNOWN AS "ALLEN AVENUE" BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco, California, that WHEREAS the. City Council of said City did, on the 20th day of January 1958, adopt its resolution~wherein it did preliminarily approve the engineers' report pre- pared by the engineering firm of WILSEY & HAM, including the plans, profiles, specifi- cations, estimate of costs and incidental expenses, and a diagram and assessment for the construction of street improvement on a portion of Harbor Way, as proposed to be extended from South San Francisco Industrial Park to East Grand Avenue, all as more particularly described and set forth in Resolution of Intention No. 2567, passed and adopted by said City Council on the 6th day of January 1958, and whereas there was also included within said plans, profiles, specifications, estimate of costs and incidental expenses, and diagram and assessment the construction of street improve- ments on a proposed public street to be known as "Allen Avenue", which is situate within the aforesaid "South San Francisco Industrial Park", NOW. THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED that the City Clerk of said City is hereby directed to publish twice in the newspaper designated for that purpose a notice invit- ing sealed proposals or bids for the construction of said work of improvement, and referring to the plans and specifications as on file in the office of said City Clerk, the first publication of which notice shall be at least ten (10) days prior to the date of opening bids. All proposals or bids shall be accompanied by a certified check payable to the order of the City, in an amount equal to not less than ten percent (10%) of the bid, or by a bond in said amount and payable to said City, signed by a corporate surety. Said check shall be forfeited, or said bond shall become payable to said city, in case the bidder depositing the same does not, within fifteen (15) days after written notice that the contract has been awarded to him, enter into a contract with the City. Sealed bids or proposals will be received by LOUIS H. GOSS, Director of Public Works of said City, who is hereby appointed for that purpose, the same to be suhnitted to him at his office in the City Hall of said City, Grand Avenue, South San Francisco, California, at any time on or before 3:00 o'clock p.m. on Friday, the 4th day of April 1958, said time being not less than ten (10) days from the time of the first publication of said notice. Bids will be publicly opened, examined, and de- clared at said time and place, by said Director of Public Works, who will then prepare a written analysis and report with respect to said bids and submit the same to said City Council at its regular meeting to be held at the hour of 8:00 o'clock p.m. on the 7th day of April 1958, for its consideration in connection with the award of con- tract. I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held this 3rd day of March, 1958, by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen G.
