A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH
SAN FRANCISCO GRANTING SPUR AND DRILL TRACK PER~ITS TO
THE SOUTHERN PACIFIC COMPANY ON'SOUTH MAPLE AVENUE
WHEREAS, Southern Pacific Company, a corporation, has applied for permit to
construct and operate a drill track and spur track in the location hereinafter desig-
nated, and
WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco desires to issue said permit on the
conditions hereinafter stated.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco that the Southern Pacific Company, a corporation,, be, and it is hereby,
permitted to construct and operate drill track and spur track as hereinafter desig-
nated upon the following conditions:
A. Conditions:
1. That the trackage will be constructed as nearly as possible
level with the street' grading.
2. That the permittee, Southern Pacific Company, a corporation,
shall maintain and keep in repair the trackage and street crossings by said trackage
extending two (2) feet each side of said trackage.
3. That in the event said trackage is abandoned and no longer re-
quired for service, permittee shall remove the trackage, or cause it to be removed,
at its'own expense, and'at no cost to the C~ y of South San Franc~co, and shall
restore the surface of the street and the bed in accordance with specifications of
the City of South San Francisco.
4. That permittee, Southern Pacific Company, a corporation, shall
hold City harmless from any claims,suits, or demands arising out of personal injury
or property damage caused by construction, operation, maintenance, repair, or con-
dition of said trackage and area contained between lines two (2) feet on each side of
said trackage, and shall further defend any and all suits, claims, or demands brought
because of personal injury or property damage.
5. That permittee, Southern Pacific Company, a corporation, shall
install, maintain and operate sufficient safety signals, or other precautions,
required to keep said crossings safe for the public to travel over and across;
and should the Original installation of crossing signals prove inadequate be-
cause of increased traffic or because of other matters, permittee shall modify
or install safety precautions or signals adequate to meet said increase in
traffic or other matters. That the original installation shall be flashing
wigwag signal.
6. This trackage shall be used as industrial trackage and not as
a main l~ne or any portion thereof.
B. Location:
1. A drill track and a spur track across Maple Avenue in the City
of South San Francisco, said trackage is more particularly described as follows:
Drill Track
Beginning at a point on the southeasterly line of South Maple Avenue dis-
tant thereon 1200 feet, more or less, measured in a southwesterly.direction from
the intersectidn of said southeasterly line of South Maple Avenue with the south-
westerly line of Victory Avenue; thence in a northwesterly direction, across South
Maple Avenue for a distance of 60 feet, more or less, ~o a point on the northwesterly
line of said South Maple Avenue, distant thereon 1177 feet, more or less, measured
in a southwesterly direction from the intersection of said northwesterly line of South
Maple Avenue with said soUthwesterly line of'Victory Avenue; thence continuing on into
private property.
Spur Track
Beginning at a point on the southeasterly line of South Maple Avenue distant
thereon 1214 feet, more or less, measured in a southwesterly direction from the inter-
section of said southelsterly line of South Maple Avenue with the southwesterly line
of Victory Avenue; thence in a westerly direction across South Maple Avenue on a
tangent for a distance of 33 feet, more or less, to a point; thence continuing
westerly across South Maple Avenue on a curve to the right, having a radius of 286.86
feet, an arc distance of 28 feet more'or less, to a point on the northwesterly line
of said South Maple Avenue, distant thereon 1202 feet, more or less, measured in a
southwesterly direction from the intersection of said northwesterly line of South
Maple Avenue with said southwesterly line of Victory Avenue; thence continuing on
into private property.
I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly
introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Fran-
cisco at a regular meeting held this 21st day of April, 1958, by the
follov~Xng vote:
