THE REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO
REGULAR MEETING
February 27, 1985
TIME: 7:00 p.m.
PLACE: Municipal Services Building - Community Room
CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Richard A. Haffey called the South San Francisco Redevelopment
Agency meeting to order at 7:06 p.m.
ROLL CALL: Present: Chairman Richard A. Haffey, Vice Chairperson Roberta Cerri
Teglia, Members: Emanuele N. Damonte, Gus Nicolopulos
Member Mark N. Addiego arrived at 7:07 p.m.
Also Present: Executive Director/Secretary C. Walter Birkelo,
Assistant Secretary Mark Lewis
AGENDA Executive Director Birkelo requested a very brief closed session
REVIEW: related to property acquisition for the Gateway Extension Project
after items 4 and 5 have been dealt with.
APPROVAL OF Member Nicolopulos moved, seconded by Member Damonte that the claims,
BILLS: as submitted for payment in the amount of $111,537.66 for February 27,
1985, be approved. Motion as made and seconded was regularly carried.
MOTION- It was motioned by Member Damonte and seconded by Vice Chairperson
SET HEARING Teglia, to set March 13, 1985, as the hearing date to hear the
DATE-VARIANCE variance application of Robert P. Warmington to allow encroachment
APPLICATION of parking spaces into the 20 foot setback located adjacent to all
O.F ROBERT T. buildings as required by Secton C. 4b~fthe Gateway Specific Plan in
WARMINGTON: accordance with Section 20.57.610 et seq. of the South San Francisco
Municipal Code (V-85-285). Motion as made and seconded was
unaminously carried.
RESOLUTION Assistant Secretary Lewis informed the Board that this resolution
RECEIVING authorizes the transmittal of the Preliminary Project Report to the
PRELIMINARY affecting taxing agencies and the Fiscal Review Committee, if the
PROJECT County decides to create it.
REPORT FOR
U.S. STEEL SITE It was moved by Vice Chairperson Teglia and seconded by Member Damonte
&AUTHORIZING that the resolution be adopted. Motion as made and seconded was
TRANSMITTAL TO unaminously carried. The resolution is entitled: RESOLUTION OF THE
AFFECTED TAXING REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO APPROVING
AGENCIES AND THE PRELIMINARY REPORT TO TAXING ENTITIES FOR THE SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO
,"' FISCAL REVIEW U.S. STEEL PLANT SITE REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT.
COMMITTEE:
CLOSED Closed session called by Chairman Haffey at 7:09 p.m.
SESSION;
Chairman Haffey informed the audience that the Redevelopment Agency
will now hold a closed session to give instructions to the Agency's
Attorney regarding the purchase of property located in the general
area of East Grand Avenue, South Airport Boulevard and Mitchell
for the Gateway Extension Project. The Attorney may negotiate with
the following parties, their attorneys or representatives, including
any lessees, on the following properties:
1. Poletti Trust - Assessor's Parcel No. 15-123-62
Northwest corner of Mitchell and West Harris
2. PG&E
Mitchell Avenue at South Airport Boulevard
3.Clay Development Company - Assessor's Parcel No, 15-121-01
7 South Airport Boulevard
4. Poletti Trust - Assessor's Parcel No. 15-123-54
5. Southern Pacific Railroad Company
A-1-197 acre parcel off E. Grand Avenue which is part
of a larger Southern Pacific ownership.
6. PG&E
Property located directly on E. Grand Avenue near Highway 101
MEETING The Redevelopment Agency meeting was reconvened at 7:15 p.m.
RECONVENES;
Chairman Haffey stated that the Closed Session was completed regarding
giving direction regarding the purchase of property located in the
general area of East Grand Avenue south of Airport Blvd. and Mitchell
Avenue to the Gateway Extension project.
GOOD & Chairman Haffey invited anyone in the audience to speak on
WELFARE: Redevelopment matters. No one spoke.
ADJOURNMENT: Vice Chairperson Teglia moved, seconded by Member Damonte that the
meeting be adjourned. Motion as made and seconded was unanimously
carried.
