BILLS: that claims as submitted for payment in the amount of
$60,143.49 for July 22, 1987, be approved. The motion
as made and seconded was regularly carried.
REQUEST FOR Deputy Executive Director, Lewis, introduced the president
FUNDING PIBC and Executive Director of the Pacific International Business
BUSINESS FORUM Center (PIBC) to present the request.
LUNCHEON
Nancy Kelly, Executive Director of PIBC stated that last
September PIBC had a business forum in which we presented
Tom Peters to 550 business people from throughout the Bay
Area, and we are looking to do that again this September 23.
This year we have Ed Zschau, former Congressman to speak.
We are trying to have a slant toward the international arena
and be able to attract international business people into
the area. Since Mr. Zschau is formally active member of the
international committee of Congress and currently with the
American Electronics Association head of their international
committee, we felt that his name would be widely recognized
and that we would be able to bring in many of the same
people that came to the Tom Peter's Business Forum, but also
again be able to gain some of that international exposure
~ ' and tap into that marketplace. Tonight we are requesting
your consideration of paying honorium for Ed Zschau, which
is $2,500. His topic is: Meeting our International
competitiveness Challenge the Right Way.
It was motioned by Member Haffey and seconded by Vice
Chairman Drago that the request be granted.
C~OSED There were no items to be discussed in closed session.
SESSION:
GOOD & WELFARE: Chair Addiego invited members of the public to speak on
redevelopment related issues. No one spoke.
Chairman Addiego informed the Board that he, the Vice Mayor
and City Manager had met with the Mayor and City Manager of
Brisbane on Tuesday morning and spoke about the Oyster Point
Interchange and Airport issues. The discussion generated to
the point where we were designing an interchange within our
boundaries and from a design standpoint, that is not the
most effective. We also concentrated on the idea of the
need to do something concerning the Weigh Station. The
relationship between the on-ramp and the on-ramp is from
South San Francisco, the off-ramp into Sierra Point, so we
are going to see if we can have the facility relocated.
Member Teglia stated that the East Grand Avenue Grade
Separation, which is a Redevelopment Agency Project, is in
need of landscaping maintenance. I understand that the
areas that are very bad are under State jurisdiction, but
· - I'm wondering if something can be worked out, maybe through
the summer programs. I would like to know just what we can
do.
ADJOURNMENT: It was motioned by Member Teglia and seconded by Member
Haffey that the redevelopment Agency Meeting be
adjourned. The motion as made and seconded was unanimously
carried.
Time of adjournment: 7:26 p.m.
