A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN
FRANCISCO ENDORSING THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE SAN MATEO
COUNTY BAR ASSOCIATION REGARDING ADDITIONAL JUDGES FOR
SAN MATEO COUNTY
WHEREAS, the Court Calendars in San Mateo County, both Municipal and Superior, are
extremely congested with trial delay extending to over sixteen (16) months in the Superior Courts
and constantly lengthening even more, and
WHEREAS, the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors must first make a favorable
recommendation to the State Legislature before that body will enact legislation creating new
Judges, and
WHEREAS, the San Mateo County Bar Association has recommended one additional Municipal
Judge for the Northern Judicial District, one additional Municipal Judge for the Southern Judicial
District, and at the very minimum one additional Superior Judge.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco
that due to the extremely crowded court calendars in this County, it is urged that the San Mateo
County Board of Supervisors consider and adopt the recommendations of the San Mateo County Bar
Association.
The City Clerk is directed to forward additional copies of this Resolution to State
Senator Richard J. Dolwig, Assemblyman Louis Francis and Assemblyman Carl Britschgi.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution No. 3189 was duly and regularly
