A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN
FRANCISCO ESTABLISHING CONDITIONS FOR ISSUANCE OF PERMITS
FOR SAFE AND SANE FIREWORKS SALES PURSUANT TO CITY ORDINANCE NO. 479
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that
the followin~ conditions are established pursuant to City Ordinance No. 479 for the
purposes of determinin~ whether a safe and sane fire works permit shall be issued in
the City of South San Francisco:
1. Compliance with City Ordinance No. 479 and other pertinent statutes and
regulations: Applicant and permittee shall comply with City Ordinance No. 479 and all
other pertinent statutes, ordinances and regulations.
2. Established reputation in the City for one year: The applicant for a
period of not less than one year prior to the date of application shall have estab-
lished in the City of South San Francisco a reputation as a responsible, careful, law-
abidin~ person, firm or corporation.

two permits per 4000 population in the City of South San Francisco.
5. Priority: Applications filed in compliance with City Ordinance No. 479 and
conditions herein set forth shall be numbered in order of filing commencing with 1 and
proceeding successively until the priority numbers equal the total number of permits is-
suable. AppIications thereafter received shall be placed on a pending list and as-
signed priority numbers in order of filing, should any become available by reason of
cancellation of priorities previously assigned. An assigned priority may be cancelled
upon determination that the stand will not be operated in a manner which will protect
the public safety and welfare and the issuln~ officer may rely on the report and recom-
mendations herein provided and site inspections or other investigations to aid in mak-
in~ said determination. The issuin~ officer may allow the applicant whose priority is
scheduled for cancellation a reasonable period of time not to exceed 48 hours in which
to cure or correct the conditions which are detrimental to the public safety and wel-
fare prior to cancellin~ the assigned priority, and should the applicant take the ac-
tions required, the issuin~ officer shall not cancel the assigned priority.
6. Insurance Certificates: Applicants shall file public liability insurance
certificates evidenciu~ insurance in the sum of Tan Thousand Dollars $10,000.00), prop-
erty damage insurance certificates evidencing insurance in the sum of Ten Thousand
Dollars ($10,000.00) and workmeu's compensation certificates.

8. Wire screen protectin~ the stand: Where individual pieces are sold or
displayed at outdoor stands, the fireworks exposed for sale shall be protected by a
wire screen constructed so as to prevent haudlin~ of same a~d to protect a~ainst for-
ei~n objects and materials likely to i~nite the fireworks or increase the hazards
thereof.
9. Fire Extinguishers: Fire extinguishers of the number and type approved
by the Fire Department shall be in place at the stand.
10. Smoking: Smokin~ in, at or near the stand is prohibited and "No Smoking"
signs shall be erected as designated by the Fire Department with letter size not less
than 4 inches.
11. Sales at the Stand: All sales shaI1 be conducted at the stand site.
12. Exits: There shall be one fire exit for every 10 feet of the stand.
The Fire Department may issue orders or directions regardin~ the keeping of aisles
and exits clear.
13. Storage and Sale: Storage and sale shall be subject to additional reg-
ulations deemed necessary and advisable by the inspecting officer for public safety.
14. Lighting of Fireworks:
