This meeting was calle~ toorder at 8' 0 Clock p.m. ,by Trustee G.W.Holst on 'President of the Board". Roll-call Roll-call found the following Trustees ,present ,to wit; P.A. Cunningham,J.C. Mc Govern, Geo. H. Wallace and G.W. Holston. Absent Trustee J.H. Kelley. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and upom motion of Trustee Mc Govern seconded by Trllstee Cunntngham and regularly carried were approved as read. A communication was received from ~.~rs Dahl a property owner of SOuth San ~rancisco, claiming exemption from taxes on accoudt of being the wife of an Army Veteran. THe matter was referred to the tax collector. The reports of City officers for the month of June were then read,the report of t~e City Clerk showed t~e loll ~wing ballances. General fund $1,961.09, Sewer fund $17,913.62, and sinking fund $ 4,341.94 the report~ of tt.e Treasurer and City ~arshal checked with that of the Clerk. Carried The following resolution was then introduced by Trustee Mc Govern. Whereas,the Legislature of Californi$ has submitted to the people a Constitutional Amend- ment known as 2he Amendment ?or Home Rule In Taxation,which gives to counties,Cities and Towns greater fredom in raiseing revenue by taxation for local purposes,but does not compel any County,City or Town to take any action if the Amendment is adopted ,and does not in any way interfere with taxation for State purposes;and Whereas, This Ama~dment for Home Rule in Taxation has been unani~mousll~ end.orsed by the LEAGUE OF CalifORNIA }~9.1NICIPALITIES,THE B'AP~!ERS Educational Union,the State Pederati:n of Labor,the California ~'ruit Growers Convention the State BUilding Trades Council and numer- ous other Civic and Industrial Bodies and twenty seven City ~ouncils;th.:,refore,be it Resolved,that the City Co~tuctl of t~e City of South San Frahcisco hereby endorses the Amendment For Home Rule In Taxation,and Recomends its adoption at the General Election in November, 1914. ! hereby certify that the following re~olution was regularly introduced and adopted by the Board of ~r ustees of the City of South San l~rancisco,this 6th. day of July, 1914,by the following vote; Ayes Trustees P.A. Carried The follwing Ordinance was then introduced by /~rUstee Cunningham. An Ordinance Establishing A ~ree Public Libary In An d Por The City OF South San Fran- cisco. The Ordinance had its first reading and was laid over to come ,ap under regular by TrNstee Cunningham and regularly carried were approved as read. The following applications for"ClassA" liquor licenses were then read Wm. E Leahey,~.E, LicSweeney,and H.l~. Sharp and accompaneing each of the above applica~erfa was a bond executed i~ favor of the City of South San Prancisco in the penal sum of One Thousand (10005 dollars for the fithful compliance with the provisions of ord~ ~inance~ No. §9 of the $ity of South San Praneisco,by the appli~ant as provided by said ordinanc and each of the said applicants navin~ complied in all respects with the provisions of the said ordinance No 59,they were granted permits for "Class A" liquor licenses for the term of six months ending December 31,1914.,by Zhe unani~ou vote of all Trustees present ~o wit; M.A. Cu~ming~am, J.C. }{c Govern, tee H. ~allace and C~w. Holston. Absent Trustee J.H. Kelley. The following demands against the City were presented for payment the same having been approved by the finance ~o. S. ?. Co. Water used by City A.G.
