Kelle~~ "fresidentof the Board". RoFi-~all Roll cell found ai~ Tri~ste~s.-prese~,to wit; F.A. Cunningham,D[.F. Healy, G.W. Holston,Oeo. H. Ws. 12ace and J.H. Kelley. The minmte~ of the previous meeting were reed end approved. A petition was received from the Pac. Gas & Electric Co. asking permission to set poles on Olive Ave., as per blue print $176 R attached to said petition. M~ved b.~f Trustee. Holston seconded by Trustee Well,ce that the m~tter berefered to the City Engineer for action. Carried f~o.mmunication wes received from N.A. 3ecker Works Manager of the P~c. Coast Steel Co. ~rotestin~ against any permission being granted for the raising of hogs in the City of SO.S.F. Zoved b: Trustee CunninFham seconded by Trustee Healy that the Cit~/ Clerk be instructed to inform Mr. Becker that no !ermit had been asked for the prive~affe of hog raising. Carried A commmnication was received from N.A. Becker rrotesting against a district assessment for a sewer s~'stem for the factory district. The Cit.~/ Clerk wasinstructed to notifF all factory owners to appear at'the next meeting of the Board of Trustees for a discussion of the best manner of assessing for s sanitar>- sewer system for the factory district. Moved by Trustee Cunningham seconded by Trustee Holston th~.t the City C~erk be instructed to notify Mr. Jas. T. Casey that if he contemplated starting a Hog R~nch in South San Francisco to be advised that the people of this City were ver: much ooposed to the project. ~oti on carried " The following entitled resolution was then introduced by Trustee He~ly. Xelley Noes ~' .r,.~stees i~one W.J. ~mith City Clerk The above resolution was filed end is now on file on page 8 of Vol. I Book of resolutions The following resolution was then introduced by Trustee~isll~ce' Whereas the United States Post Office st South Sen Francisco has been consolidated wi~h the Post office of South S~n Francisco on the slle~vd ground that free deliver.~; service would, be gi~n to the Cit?: of ~outh San Francisco: and Whereas the conso].idation above mentioned has resulted in making the City of South S~.n Francisco mere]~' a Postal sub station of the City of San Francisco,so far as post office matters .are concerne~ ~nd Whereas such consolidation hs.~' s.]re~.d7~ caused and will continues to cause the Cit~. of £ uth San Francisco to an:for irreparable loss of identity and iudividualit~ in the eles of el! ]$ortions of the country outside of our m~nicipality ; and Whereas this Board of Trustees believes that the identit.~ and individuality of this City constit~te~ s valuable ~.ssest a. nd that this asset is one of growing importance in the couZse of the development of the City of South Srn Francisco;end · nereas it is inexpedient from an economical point of view that such merger of ?cst offices should exist,because of the ~reat distance seper~ting the bo~ndaries of San Francisco and South S~.n Francis~ and the still ~reeter distance between the business centers of these Cities : and Whereas the ~romised free de]iver~~ has been given only to a rortion of South S~n Francisco and in sn inadequate menner, which is v. rovin~ very inconvenient to all persons who depend upon this delivery :and -here,s it ~ppesrs that the merger ~bove mentioned is only a step in the direction of making ~11 ~n M~.teo Pos~ offices sub stations of the S~n Frgncisco Post Off~ee ,with a view solellJ to increase the revenue of the latter post office and the emoluments of the post master: and · Whereas the Board of Trustees while standing firm for ]~rogress and ever~thing th~.t is beneficial to the communit~ at South San Francisco,oproses everthing that is detrimental to ~he welfare of this City and to the inhabitants thereof: Resolved by the Board of Trustees of the Cit: of South -San Francisco that said Board condemn~ the above r>entione~ mer~er of the ?cst office of South S~:n Francisco with the post office at S~-n Francisco and requests thst the United States Post Office Department give to South San Francis¢ such pos~t~l service as wi]] adequately serve the needs of this community and thai, the identity. end indiwidmelity of the post office of Sou~h San Francisco be fmlly preserved.
