The minutes of the previous meeting were read and upon motion of Trustee Kelley seconded by
Trustee He~ly and reguls, rly e~rried were approved as read.

Moved bN Trustee Cunningham seconded by. Trustee Kelley, that that the demand be reJeeted.
Notion earried
A eommunieation was reeeived from the Railroad Commission of the 8tate of California,asking tl~
that the Board of Trustees eonserve eleetrieity to the utmost and to this end asked that all
eleetrie advertising signs be diseontinued.
Moved bw Trustee Cunningham seeonded by Trustee Kelley that the City electric sign at Grand Ave
and Diwislon Street be diseontinued,and the ~treet committee be instrueted to look over street
lights with a view to eutting off some of the ~lgh~atin use at present.
Motion carried
Capt. G~eason an empYoye of the~Emergen~y fleet e0rporation appeared before the Board~$f Trus~
ess and asked that a number of special police be deputized by the Board of Trustees to gaurd
Shipyard end Steel P~ant.
The names of the men to be deputized not being at hand the matter was eo~tinued until Tuesdsy
August 6,1918, at 12 o clock Noon.
Areport was received from W.J. Kidd expert accountant who reported having completed the audit
of the Cityn books and found everything correct.
The report was received and ordered filed.
A communication was received from thePrest -0 L;te Co., asking that a fire hydrant be placed
at their plant .

be installed ·
The City Cler~ w~s instructed to eommuniate with the write,rand inform him the City eould not
afford to spend the mone~t this time.
The reports of City 0ffieers for the month of July were then read,the report of the City Clerk

peddleing ordinance be amended to provide more protection for the merchant against the peddl~
