Special meetina of the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco held October 24,
,h~s meeting was cai}ed to order at twelve o'clock noon by G. W. ilo]ston ?resident of
said Board of Trustees, Trustee J. H. Kc]leu was appointed to act as Clerk pro. te~pore.
There were ~resent the foil. owing: Trustees ~. A. Cunn~naham, G. W. Pio~ston and J. H. Kelley
Trustees ~,f. F. nealy and A. J. Esche]bach were absent.

Whereas an e}-~demis of iu±'luenzs now exists in the Cit,~; of 'South San Francisco and. man,j
hundreds of the inhabitants thereof are afflicted with said disease and deaths are resu~.tin~

Whereas the health authorities throu~*hout the State of California deem it imj-er[ti~e that
pauze masks coverin~r !he mouth and nose should be worn b~: all persons in public prates in order
tor~ prevent the spread of infl'~enza end to orotect hum_an life;
Resolved b:? the Board of Trustees of the Cit,j of South San Francisco that all r:ersons
a-~earing er employed in ever7 store, sho~, bank, factory, liquor saloon, resturant, or t?ublic
dinin~ room, public street or highway and in ~]I other pullic places abd in all ~/aces to which
the W,]b2ic ~r:~ admitted, e:,ce~t while any such persorts are in the act of partaking o5' ~'ood or drink,
be and they hereby are re uired and ordered to wear ?auze m~_sks covering the nose and mouth.
Resolved f~rther that the Health Officer and all police officers be, and the~. hereby, are
ordered to carry into effect the purposes of this resolution.
