HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 1920-09-07362 · Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco, held Tuesday, September the 7th., 1920 at 310 Linden Ave. The meeting wes called to order at 8.10 p.m. by G.W.Holston, President of the Board ROLL CA~L. ~ Roll call found the following Trustees present, to-wit;- F.A.Cunningham, L.G.Hardy Jr., H..Scampini, G.W.Holston. Absent , Trustees, ~.J.Eschelbach. Trustee Eschelbach appeared after roll call. The minutes of the three previous meetings were read,~nd upon motion of Trustee Cunn Cunningham seconded by TrusteeEschelbaeh and regularly carried were approved as read. Trustee Eschelbach moved that bids be opened for the cleaning of s.treets. The. motion was seconded by Trustee $campini and regularly carried. The following bids for the cleaning of all streets,alleys, culverts and catch basins within the City of So San Francisco were then read;- Jack Vaccsri, $225 per month. Paul Briones $275 " " A.G.Bissett&S0n $300 " " W.G.0wens ~250 " " Felice Brocchini $250 " " Peter Bara~beri $224 " " Nazarini Medeghini$200 " " G.S.Silvern~il $275 " " Nazarino Medeghini appearing the lowest responsible bidder the following resolution was introduced by Trustee ¢~nningham;- RESOLUTION OF AWARD. ~ Whereas the Board of Trustees of the City of South ~an Francisco did, in open session on the 7th., day of September, 1920, publicly open, examine and declare all Sealed proposals or bids for doing the follwwing work in said City, to-wit;- The cleaning of all paved streets, paved alleys, culverts and Catch basins within $ said ~ity for th~ period of one (1) year, All said street cleaning work must be done in strict compliance with the specifications adopted by said Board of Trustees on the 19th day of August,1920, and now on file in the office of the city Clerk. The successful bidder shall, within Five (5)days after the award, enter into a contract with the City of South San Francisco for the faithful performance.of the work to be done under said awerd. Resolved that said Board of Trustees hereby rejects all said proposals or bids except that hereinefter mentioned and hereby awarwas the contract for doing said work and improvement to the lowest responsible bidder, to-wit, Nazerino Medeghini, at the price n~med in his bid,to-wit;- twenty-four hundred(t2400) dollars. The President of said Board of Trustees and the City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed, in the name of said city of South San F~ancisco and under its corporate seal, to enter into an agreement with said, Nazarino ~edeghini, for doing said work. I hereby certify thay the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced ~n~ adopted by the Board of Trustees of ~$~$$~~$~ the ~ity of South San Francisco this 7th day of September, 1920, by the following vote;- ~Ayes, Trustees, F.A.Cunningham A.J.~schelbrch, L.G.~.~rdy, H.~oampini, ~G~E$!ston. Daniel McSweeney, City Clerk &ex-o~Ticio Cl~rk of the Board o~ Trustees, A communication was~received from the Pacific Gas & Electric Co., ~dvising the Boerd of'Trustees that , owing to the extreme Power shortage, and in order to save electric energy the street lights of this City would be turned off two(2) hours earlier in the morning. This schedule to be effective during the month of September. The communication was accepted and filed and the city Clerk instructed to write the company and ask what reduction was due the ~ity on account of the c~enge in. se~¥ice. A communxcs~mon wes received from the Dabney H. ~atson ~orporation recommending Watco Salt for water purification. The City Clerk was instructed to notify the health officer to send a sample of the City w~ter to the U.C. chemical department for analysis. H.G.Butler o~ ~ne .2ower Administration wrote advising conservation of electric power and co-operation with the power companies to that end. He stated that all companies of Northern were threatened with ~ shortage on account of leek of rains and restricting the use of power to purely essential industries;. Accepted and filed. ~ communication was received from Werner& Coffey, Architects of the City Hall, stating that plens and specific~tions for lighting fixtures to be installed in the city hall are now complwted and asked that the ~ity advertise for sealed proposals for same. Accepted end the Clerk instructed to ring them up and h~ve them send a representative to the Board meeting Wed. eve., with the plans and specifications, which h~d not arrived. REPORTS OP CITY OFFICERS. The reports of the Fire ~ershrll,City Recorder and Cit~ Clerk w~re received, The report of the City Olerk showed the following balances;-Gen, fund $~61Z0.26, Sinking FundvZ385'~ .27 1919 Bonds $5721.58, City Hall Fund $1567.56, Library Fund $ 566.54 Yact. On motion of Trustee Cunningha~ seconded by Trustee HaTdy. The'reports were accepted. The motion was seconded by Trustee Eschelbach and regularly carried. Moved by T~ustee Eschelbach that the Board adjourn to meet Wednesday eve at 510 linden Ave. The motion was seconded by Trustee Hardy and regularly carried. Time of adjournment 9.50 p.m..
