The minutes of the previous were read and u?on me,ion of ~rustee ~schelbach seconded by
Trustee ~unningha~ were approved.
The report of City 2reasurer Xauffman for the month of December was read ~nd accepted.
A communication was received from the ~outhern Pacific Co in regard to the Gamewell Fire ~
Y~larm Telegraph Canpany crossing their track~ at Butler Ro~d, asking for the exact ~ocation of the
crossing and as to wheather the wires will bs in conduit. Accepted an~ fi~ed, the company having been
already put in touch with Superintendent ~rown of the Fire J~larn compny, nn the subject.
The c~erk was inst~cted to write the Pacific Gas & Electric Co requesting ~hem to install
two poles opposite the Pacific boast ~teel Co's plant to bo used in c~nnection with the install-
~tion of the Fire Alar~ Telegraph
The Clerk w~s also instructed to write to the United R~ilro~ds notifying them that certain
po~es belonging to the company were too near the curb line,~n~ requesting that they move the same
inward toward the property line. reference being made to two poles at Orange and Gr~nd Avenues and ~ne
division street and grsnd ~venue.
0n motion of ~ru~tee Cunn~ngh~m the street committee wss instructed to order a s~r~et~
light placed iu front of the City ~t~ll
0n motion of Trustee ~rdy seconded by Trustee Eschelb~ch and re~larly carried, Chss. F.
Schurk was employed to inspect the new fire alarm system before its acceptance ~y the city. The
~pproximate cost of the inspection t~ bs in the neighborhood of $2B.00.
The co~ittee appointed to wait on the United Railroads with a view to securing better
street~ar service for ~o. San Francisco reported through Trustee Hardy ~nd City attorney Coleberd
that very little encouragement w~s given them by the company's representatives for better service
conditions.
J~ndrew Hynding introduced ~r. ¥~alter A.~off of the McRorrie-McLaren Company, l~ndscape
engineers, who spoke ~nd submi!tedviews and blue prints on tree planting. Zfter discuesion
Trustee Cunningham i~troduced the following resolution.

Resolved by The Board of Trustees of the City of South 2~n Francisco that public interest
and con~enience require the work herein described, ~nd the~Board of Trustees of the Czty of South
~n Francisco hereby orders the following work to be done in said City, to-wit:-

enter into a contract with the City of ~ouih S[,n ~ranc~sco for ~,.]. faithful performance of the work
to be done under said award. ,
Ail prpposate must be accompanied ~'ith a certified check ~Imn a solvent bank of the State
of California, payable to the City of South ~s~n Francisco,in ~n [mount not les~ than (10) per cent
of the aggr6gate of the bid, u?on the condition that if the proposalbe accepted and the contract a-
awarded, and if the bidder shell f~ii and negiec~ to execute the contract and give the bonds required,
the sum mentioned in said check shall be liquidated d~:mages for such failure and neglect,and shall

On motion of Trustee 4~rdy seconded by Trustee Eschelbach and regularly carried, Chss. F.
