held Monday. Nay 23 rd, 1921,at the City Hall.
The meeting was called to order at eight o'clock p.m. by Trustee G.W.Holston, President of
ef the BoarA.
Roll Call.
Roll call fo~md all Trustees present, to-wit;-
F.A.Cmmmingham, A.J.Eschelbach, L.G.~ardy Jr., H.Scampini. G.W.~olston.
The mimutes of the previous meeting were read and'upon motion of Trustee Nardy seconded by
Trustee Eschelbach and regularly carried were approved.
Representatives of the Grower's Rice Milling Compamy,Mesers.Boyle and Chava~ia, appeared
before the Board, having heard a protest wac lodged againet their company for allowing ashes
to escape from their factory funnels.No protest had been received. The gentlemen stated their
company was endeavoring in every Wayto. ' abate the nuisance and expected before long to have
it under control.
A ccnmunication was received from the Pacific Gas and Electric Co. in answer to the City's
request to ~lace a light at the corner of Orange and Baden Avenues,stating the matter would be given
immediate attention. Accepted and filed

The Southern Pacific Company.through counsel WM.F.Nerrin filed a~pro es~ against the street
work proposed by ~esolution of Intention ?40,,that of the improvement of Industrial Way, and asking'
advise a~ to action taken by the Board of Trustees on the protest. Protest accepted and ordered file,
President No!eton addressed the meeting and asked if there were any further protests, either written
verbal against the proposed improvement of Industrial ~ay,this being the date set for the filimg of
such protests. There were none.
A commmnication was received from the Market~Btreet Railway Company showing the gross earnin,
of the South San Francisco Railroad and Power Company to be $31,181,20 for the year April 22nd. 1920
to April 21st, 1921, and the amount due the ~ity of South San Francisco for franchise uneer Order #$
of the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco, to be $$23.$2. The approval of the Boar,
was asked. The clerk was instructed to reply stating the Board approved the company's statement.
Health officer McGovern rePorted on the condition of the ~ellepes bakery,and the dairy on
the ~an Bruno Road near Armour Avenue, stating the bakery was being put in condition and that the da:
man would endeavor to keep his place in s samitary condition while looking around for a new locatiem
Concerning the subject of school nurse, the Health officer stated it was absolutely necessary that
one should be employed, as many diseases of children~were prevalent. He was instructed by the Board
to co-operate with the school department ~nd the City would stand half the salary of a nurse to be
employed,to the amount of $62.50 per month.
Referring to the matter of the Improvement of Industrial Way it was suggested that a committ
be appointed to weit on the Southern Pacific officials in charge of construction, explaining the
situation to them in detail with a view to having them withdraw their objection to the proposed
improvement. President ~olston accordingly appointed the City Engineer, Geo,A,E~eese, W.J.~artin and
P.H.Thompson a committee to represent the City in the negotiations.
Resolution,
The following resolution was introduced by Trustee Scampini:-
Resolved by the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco that the statement of
South San Franeisc~ Railroad and Power Company, dated May l?th, 1921, showing that the sum of Bix Nu:
and twenty-three dollars and sixty-two cents ~$623,62) is due said City o~ South San Francisco from
said South San Francisco Railroad end Power Company be. ~ud the same hereby is approved.

Resolved by the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco that Governor William ]
Stephens be,and he hereby is respectfully requested to approve said bill.

The bills having been approved by the finance committee Trustee Cunningham moved they be
paid. The' motion was seconded by ~rustee Esche]bach and regularf$ carried.
There being no further business before the Board Trustee Esckelbach moved adjournment unti
Tuesday May ~1, ~1921, at 7.30 P.M. The motion was seconded by Trustee Hardy and regularly carried.
